Best Ever FA Cup Final Goals!

We count down our best ever goals scored in FA Cup finals. Being the oldest cup competition in the world meant there was plenty to pick from. We’ve managed to narrow it down to seven top class goals. One going back over forty years. Arsenal feature heavily with three goals and a classic from an special Argentine. Let’s do this!

7. 1985 Norman Whiteside for Manchester United against Everton

Left foot screamer from Norman Whiteside. That first touch though. The turn left the Forest player in no-mans land. Boom, top right corner!

6. 1997 Roberto Di Matteo for Chelsea against Middlesbrough

Quickest ever FA Cup goal, scored in the first minute. Not a single Middlesbrough player closing down Di Matteo. Smashes it straight down the middle. Enough swing to put off the keeper and just about enough dip to creep in.

5. 2015 Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal against Aston Villa

Picks up the loose ball. Quick little dummy takes out two Villa players. Sets himself up on his favoured right foot and pulls the trigger. Given had no chance with the ball swerving that fast.

4. 1971 Charlie George for Arsenal against Liverpool

Great team work in the lead up to this classic goal against Liverpool. The two forwards had Liverpool dancing in circles. Sideburns, hair and celebrations to match the quality of the goal.

3. 2002 Ray Parlour for Arsenal against Chelsea

This Arsenal team was unstoppable and Ray Parlour was definitely underrated. He showed his class here. Recieved the ball from Wiltord and cut inside into his right before unleashing a beauty into the top corner. A cult hero at Arsenal for sure.

2. 1981 Ricky Villa for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City

Now this set the standard for best FA Cup. Taking on three players with no fear. A shimmy and a cut-back too many for the Manchester City defenders. This made Ricky Villa a Spurs hero forever. What a goal. It set the standard for many years to come.

1. 2006 Steven Gerrard for Liverpool against West Ham United

No surprise here then. Steven Gerrard won’t hit them any sweeter than this. It’s extra time and he has no energy, so he just decides to wallop it 30 yards into the back of the net. Perhaps the best goal he has ever scored.
