Kick Off – 18:00
Southampton’s visit to the San Siro to face Inter Milan will be their first ever competitive match against a team from Serie A. A Saints victory would see them top Group K by seven points and be in pole position for qualification to the knockout stages.
Inter are currently sat bottom of the group, having lost both of their group games so far against Sparta Prague and Hapoel Be’er Sheva. They’re currently 11th in Serie A and the build up to the match has been disrupted by the public row between Mauro Icardi and the Ultras, after the publication of the striker’s controversial autobiography.
Team News
Claude Puel will be without his first choice full backs, with Cedric Soares, Jeremy Pied, Ryan Bertrand and Matt Targett all unavailable. Cuco Martina and Sam McQueen are expected to replace them in their absence. Club record signing Sofiane Boufal has recovered from injury and is available for the first time since his arrival in the summer, but Nathan Redmond has been rested and hasn’t travelled with the squad.
Geoffrey Kondogbia and Joao Mario are both unavailable for Frank de Boer’s squad this evening, but the Dutchman has suggested that Marcelo Brozovic could return to the team.
