Day two at Royal Ascot always throws up some tremendous winners and we are sure that it will be no exception this year. Some top-class horses have been declared to race and there is some mouthwatering action to get your teeth into.
Here are our best tips and predictions for day two:-
1.15 Silver Royal Hunt Cup 1m
You couldn’t ask for a trickier start to day two. A blaze of horses running down Ascot’s straight mile is a wonderful sight and if your horse is in contention, then you could be in for a real thrill.
The favourite is Ouz0 (11/2). He is a very consistent horse and with Ryan Moore on board, he has a great chance of lifting a big prize at one of the biggest meetings.
Sir Busker is another interesting contender. He won very nicely last time out and has the in-form Oisin Murphy in the saddle. A bigger priced contender could be Plantadream (20/1). He is unexposed and has won two of his last three races.
OUR TIP: Sir Busker – 9/1
1.50 Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3) 1m 2f
A small but select field line up for the second race of the second day and there is a great clash in prospect between Juan Elcano (9/4) and First Receiver (5/2). The former ran a great race in 2000 Guineas to finish fifth at a big price whilst First Receiver won well on his only start this campaign.
We will give a nod to Juan Elcano, who will relish the extra two furlongs.
OUR TIP: Juan Elcano – 9/4
2.25 King George V Stakes (Handicap) 1m 3f
Eighteen runners go to post for this one and it is, arguably, one of the toughest races to tip during the whole week.
Kipps is the slight favourite at 11/2 and has a decent chance for Hughie Morrison. He is very lightly raced but has improved each time and he has lots of potential.
Ta Nathanial is another with a really good chance. He has won his last two races and makes a step up in class here. However, he has all the ingredients to be a major player. Win O’Clock (7/1) and Bodyline (9/1) have claims.
OUR TIP: Ta Nathanial – 8/1
3.00 Prince of Wales Stakes (Group One) 1m 2f
A world-class field line up for this race, headed by Japan (10/11). He proved himself to be one of the best horses on the planet last season, finishing fourth in the Arc. If he runs to that form, it will make him the one they all have to catch.
Headman (5/1) looks to be his main danger. He had a very good campaign last time around and will go close. Barney Roy (5/1) should also be considered.
OUR TIP: Japan – 10/11
3.35 Royal Hunt Cup 1m
The ultra-competitive action just rumbles on and 23 runners go toe-to-toe in what should be an enthralling renewal of the Royal Hunt Cup.
It may be worth going for the bigger prices in this race so we have a couple of each-way tips for you. Fox Premier (14/1) is a strong contender. He has some good form on the book and can be tipped to run well at a decent price.
Pogo is another who make the jump up in class! He ran well on his seasonal reappearance and he will give a good account of himself in this big field.
OUR TIP: Pogo E/W – 14/1
4.10 Windsor Castle Stakes (Listed Race) 5f
The big fields keep on rolling in and this race for two-year-olds will be a speedy affair.
Heading the market are Chief Little Hawk (9/2) and Sunshine City (9/2). These two horses have bags of potential and the form of their first time out victories has worked out well so far.
In particular, Sunshine City has come over from the USA for this race and his trainer knows what it takes to win at Royal Ascot. Get It ran with promise last time and is decent price at 9/1.
OUR TIP: Sunshine City – 9/2
4.40 Copper Horse Handicap 1m 6f
A fiendishly difficult race to finish the second day. A lot of unexposed types in this race make it difficult to choose a winner from.
However, Collide is the one they all have to beat for us. He is rapidly improving and can rack up a hat-trick of wins this season in this final race of the day.
At a longer price, you could do worse than back Eddystone Rock each-way (16/1). He shaped with promise on his return last time and could run well.
OUR TIP: Collide – 9/2
