That’s all folks. Racing at Royal Ascot is over for another year. However, the final day has a mouthwatering three Group One races with some of the best horses in the world competing.
Add to that, a couple of big-field handicaps that will get your scratching your head, and you have a wonderful day in prospect.
Let us take a look at our tips for the final day:-
12.40 Silver Wokingham Handicap 6f
This is going to be a mad dash down the Ascot straight. A maximum of 24 runners are set to go to post for this one so here are our two best tips for you.
Magical Wish was back with a bang, winning his only race so far this season. He runs for the Richard Hannon stable who have done so well in handicaps over the years. At a bigger price, Bernardo O’Reilly has decent form going back a few races and if he runs to that, he could run well.
OUR TIP: Magical Wish – 14/1
1.15 Queen Mary Stakes (Group 2) 5f
Some of the horses in the race are due to be future stars but can one of them put their name on the map?
American trainer Wesley Ward has another wonderful chance for an Ascot victory with Campanelle (4/1) and she will run a big race under Frankie Dettori.
However, one we really like, is Sacred. She will be ridden by James Doyle and is very well-regarded by her connections.
OUR TIP: Sacred – 4/1
1.50 Coventry Stakes (Group 2) 6f
Another race for the juveniles and these are set to top their trade in the next couple of seasons.
As usual, Aiden O’Brien is well represented with Admiral Nelson (4/1). He will no doubt be in contention but our tip is Qaader. He won his only start very easily and Jim Crowley can get on the board with a win.
OUR TIP: Qaader – 11/2
2.25 Coronation Stakes (Group 1) 1m
A cracking race for the fillies and one of the champagne races of the festival.
Aiden O’Brien has lots of good chances throughout the week and we are very keen on Peaceful (2/1), if she runs. If not, you could do worse than side with Sharing. She is on a roll and with a jockey in form taking the ride, she could be first past the post.
OUR TIP: Sharing – 11/2
3.00 St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1) 1m
This race is sure to be an absolute cracker with some of the best three-year old colts in Great Britain and Ireland going head-to-head.
Wichita (7/4) and Pinatubo are neck and neck in the betting and it will no doubt be close on the course as well. The two finished second and third in the 2000 Guineas respectively. Pinatubo was favourite for that but we back him to bounce back and give us a reminder of his electric form from last season.
OUR TIP: Pinatubo – 7/4
3.35 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) 6f
The last of three Group One races in a row, and the last of the meeting, but it promises to be an absolute humdinger!
Sceptical (15/8) is a worthy favourite on the formbook and comes into this race in great heart but we think there is an eyecatcher lurking down the betting. Dream of Dreams has run some wonderful races and we think he can get the big prize he deserves.
OUR TIP: Dream of Dreams – 9/1
4.10 Wokingham Stakes 6f
Some up-and-coming sprinters lock horns in another huge field swept out across the Ascot landscape.
Mubakker (8/1) should run a cracker! He has been in great form and improved with each run. Jim Crowley’s mount should go close.
However, we are very sweet on the chances of Swindler. He is lightly-raced but is just the type to win this race and he should be the one to beat.
OUR TIP: Swindler – 15/2
4.40 Queen Alexandra Stakes 2m 5f
This is the longest race of the five days so you need a horse that stays and has that touch of class that can see off the opposition.
Land of Oz (7/1) should be in the frame. He can run well at a nice price but we can’t look past the favourite, Mekong. He has that touch of class we talked about and will relish the distance.
OUR TIP: Mekong – 2/1
