This promises to be another Premier League classic between these two giants! Liverpool and Arsenal are two of the most successful teams in English football and they have conjured up some memorable games over the years.
Liverpool are the reigning Premier League champions. Winning that first title for 30 years was an incredible achievement, although the manner of their success was mindblowing.
What will be harder is following it up again and Arsenal are in their way this weekend. Both sides have had immaculate starts to the season with two wins out of two games so unbeaten records and winning runs are on the line.
Jurgen Klopp’s side scraped past Leeds in a 4-3 thriller on the opening day before making a real statement with a very easy 2-0 win over Chelsea.
Arsenal walloped Fulham 3-0 in their first game before struggling past West Ham 2-1 at the Emirates in their last game.
However, both teams are in a rich vein of form carrying on from last season so there should be some quality football on show on Monday evening (kick off 8.15pm).
Liverpool vs Arsenal Predictions
These two teams have put on a real show in their last few meetings. Arsenal won the traditional curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, ahead of this new season when they beat the Reds on penalties.
This is a different Arsenal to seasons gone by. Mikel Arteta has given them a steely edge to add to their flair. They also have a world-class striker in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has recently signed a new deal at Arsenal.
Liverpool weren’t at their best against Leeds but thanks to Mo Salah’s hat-trick, they did the business. Their display against Chelsea was utterly commanding and sent out a warning to the rest of the league that they won’t relinquish the title without a fight.
That said, this game presents a real threat to Klopp’s side. Any slips ups and they could lose a first league game at Anfield for three years.
However, we think they will just hold on to beat the Gunners and 2-1 looks a safe option.
