Liverpool’s runaway Premier League title triumph

After the year they’ve had, It would be unthinkable not to include Liverpool FC in this list. It had been three decades since the team last held the league trophy, their 1990 victory a distant memory for loyal Kopites, and after a near miss in the 18-19 season, 2020 was finally their time to shine.

Under captain Jordan Henderson and the combined forces of Jurgen Klopp, Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, Liverpool blitzed their opponents at every stage, earning the club the record for the longest ever undefeated run of home wins in the league, finally taking their 19th Premier League title in June.

They would have been on many of our customers’ football betting lists over the course of the season! They were nigh on unbeatable. Can they do it again this campaign?

England Rugby do the double

After such a heartbreaking defeat to South Africa in the Rugby World Cup last year in Japan, Eddie Jones’ men were chomping at the bit to get back at it and show the world they are still a force to be reckoned with.

Despite a poor opening performance against France, England reeled off the four wins they needed to lift the Six Nations trophy once again.

Following that success, the inaugural Autumn Nations Cup was also up for grabs and Jones wanted his side to take this seriously. They did just that, thumping their main rivals, Ireland, in the group stages before a dramatic shootout win against France in the final.

Dustin Johnson wins the US Masters

Dustin Johnson has had a remarkable 2020. He won the FedEx Cup on the PGA Tour and many observers were surprised that he had only one Major victory to his name in his career.

The 36-year-old made up for that with an imperious performance at Augusta last month. His record there, without winning, had been the envy of some but he finally got over the winning line to get his hands on the coveted Green Jacket, with emotional scenes at the end.

With a bumper schedule for 2021 in sight, who is to say that Johnson won’t add to those two Major victories? He is the dominant player in the world and could be the guy that steps into Tiger Woods’ shoes.

Lewis Hamilton wins 7th F1 Drivers’ Title

The untouchable Lewis Hamilton scooped his 7th drivers’ title, matching the legendary Michael Schumacher’s own record, and won a staggering 11 races.

Besides being a brilliant driver, Hamilton has been very vocal about challenging systemic racism: he was the first Formula 1 pro to speak out about the death of George Floyd, showing his support for diversity in the sport by donning black livery under Mercedes.

Anthony Joshua still reigns supreme

Boxing has been at a premium this year but all boxing fans are still licking their lips at the prospect of Joshua vs Tyson Fury at some point in 2021.

Firstly, Joshua had a mandatory bout against Kubrat Pulev to take care of before working his way to that bout with Fury.

Joshua was impressive against a doughty opponent and many pundits took the view that this was Joshua’s best performance yet in his career.

A glowing endorsement and we all can’t wait for Joshua vs Fury, one of the most eagerly anticipated heavyweight title fights for many years! That fight is sure to be very popular at our boxing betting page.
