King George VI Chase Predictions
Some of the best chasers in Britain are vying for this glorious prize! A field of nine go to post at 3pm on Saturday for this prestigious prize and we will give a lowdown of the runners and riders!
Clan des Obeaux is the worthy favourite at 13/8 currently. He has won the last two renewals, including thrashing the excellent Cyrname last year. He ran well on his seasonal reappearance at Haydock and clearly loves the sharp track at Kempton.
However, he has some stern opposition. His nearest rival in the betting is the aforementioned Cyrname at 15/8. Both horses are trained by Paul Nicholls and he is bullish about the chances of Cyrname. He has a lot to make up on the bare form but is a very classy horse in his own right.
The horse we like the best is Santini, He has been supplemented for this race by master trainer Nicky Henderson and finished runner-up in last year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup. His connections wouldn’t have added him to the field for extra cost if they didn’t think he had a big chance.
Lostintranslation is another interesting contender. He looked to have the world at his feet before pulling up in this race last year and was well beaten behind Clan des Obeaux at Haydock where they lost to Bristol de Mai. If back to his best, he could run well at odds of 7/1.
At a bigger price, we think Waiting Patiently could run really well. He unseated his rider in 2018 in this race and has shown good bits of form since. The return to three miles should suit and he could outrun his big odds.
