Sports Calendar 2021: The Major Sporting Events of the Year

Happy New Year! This looks to be an incredible year of sport, with a calendar packed full of some of the best sporting events on the planet!

The sports calendar 2021 is going to be so exciting if you are an absolute fan of all sports and there truly are so major sports events in 2021.

Here is our sporting events preview and we take a look at some of the biggest sporting events that lie ahead of us in 2021. Sports fans are in for a real treat!

European Championships

Will football come home once and for all for England? With the final due to take place at Wembley on July 11, there is nothing that England supporters would want more than to see Harry Kane and the squad lift the trophy on a hot summer’s evening.

Can they do it? They will, of course, have to overcome many obstacles with the likes of France and Portugal in their way but this represents the best chance of big tournament win for England in over 50 years. It should be an incredible tournament.

We will of course have our dedicated football betting page open for the Euros so don’t miss out!

The Olympic Games

Following hot on the heels from the Euros, the Olympics will be held in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8. The quality of athletes, all 11,000 of them, is what makes this such a unique sporting event and gives the chance to put some of the less-heralded nations on the map.

Over 200 nations are expected to have competitors take part in Japan and it will no doubt be worth the wait. Despite no Usain Bolt anymore, the mens 100 metres is still one of the most eagerly-anticipated events of the Olympics and Christian Coleman is expected to be the next heir to the throne!

Tyson Fury Sport events

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury

This fight has been on the cards for quite some time and it is expected these two heavyweights will meet not just once, but twice, in 2021!

It has been reported that a verbal agreement has been reached between both men and this will be the biggest boxing bout between two UK fighters for nearly 30 years since the halcyon days of Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank.

Although both heavyweights, they have completely different styles. Joshua is the stylist, a cool and composed fighter whilst Fury is a rugged, tough nut to crack.

Joshua is the current WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champions whilst Fury holds the WBC belt. It truly will be a winner takes all fight!

As per usual, this fight will be heavily featured on our site and we will have the best boxing bets available!

Cheltenham Festival

This is the earliest of all the six events that we feature in our sporting events preview and the creme de la creme of the UK and Ireland horse racing community come together for four glorious days in March.

The very best jumps horses are on show from either side of the Irish Sea. In recent years, Irish raiders have taken the glut of the big prizes with them and Al Boum Photo is eyeing a third Gold Cup in a row, hopefully emulating the likes of Best Mate and Arkle.

Other horses to watch out for include Epatante in the Champion Hurdle and Envoi Allen in one of the novice chases at the meeting. We can’t wait!

Our horse racing page will give you the latest odds ante-post so you could get some big prices as it stands!

Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods sports calendar

Ryder Cup

This competition really gets the juices flowing from both sides of the Atlantic and is one of the best sporting events in the calendar.

There are so many special events in 2021 and this one, held at the end of September, means so much to Team Europe and Team USA.

Europe is the current holders, having walloped the US Team at Le Golf National in 2018. With the event being played at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, the US team have home advantage and they won 2016 on home soil convincingly.

With so many excellent American players coming through the ranks, and with the likes of Dustin Johnson ready to dominate the golfing world, this should be a riveting edition of the Ryder Cup.

The Ashes

When it comes to sporting rivalries, there are not many bigger than England vs Australia. Certainly in cricket, the two nations compete for The Ashes, or the “little urn”. If you are English or Australian, there is nothing either side want more than to beat the other convincingly.

The Australians are the current holders, having smashed England 4-0 in 2017/18 and then drawing back in England 2-2 in 2019.

They have arguably the best batsman in the world in Steve Smith but England has possibly the best cricketer in the world in Ben Stokes. It looks set to be another titanic tussle when England travel Down Under in November.
