Manchester City v Spurs Carabao Cup Final Preview
It’s an historic day at Wembley Stadium on Sunday as 8,000 fans are welcomed back to the national stadium for a pilot event on the way back to normality from Covid restrictions. A select few fans from both teams will join a few thousand frontline NHS workers in showing up at the event, which could kickstart the sport’s reopening to fans.
Struggling Spurs booked their place in the Carabao Cup Final by beating Brentford in the semi-finals, but they’re facing an uphill battle in this weekend’s final. City are the best team in the country, so even if everything in North London were going well this would be a challenge. But they just got rid of their manager Jose Mourinho, and despite beating Southampton during the week, there’s a lot of questions the players and temporary boss Ryan Mason will have to answer.
For City, they’ve bounced straight back from their disappointing FA Cup exit by beating Aston Villa 2-1 mid-week. Both sides had to deal with European Super League controversies, but Pep Guardiola’s men are more used to this sort of thing than Spurs’ players, so they’ll probably be better equipped to deal with the wacky week of football we’ve just encountered.
Manchester City v Spurs Carabao Cup Final Odds
Spurs are pretty heavy underdogs at 21/4 for victory, while Manchester City 10/21 favourites for the win. Don’t forget that this is a cup game, so if the game goes to extra-time and you’ve betted on a win either side, you’ve lost. The draw over 90 minutes is a 15/4 shot, and Spurs are 9/4 to lift the trophy by any method, with Man City at 10/31.

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Spurs to win the cup – 9/4
It would be such a great story after the last few weeks for Spurs to win this trophy, their first major one in well over a decade. It was actually this tournament that they won back in 2008, beating Chelsea in the first final at the new Wembley. They haven’t won much silverware since, but they’ve come ever so close, and this would be a really necessary time for them to get another one on the board.
Manchester City to win and both teams to score – 49/20
These sides have played each other twice this season, trading wins, and we can’t pick ‘em this weekend. Cup finals are notoriously cagey, but we see more goals in the City team, so why not get some value on them winning the game?
Both teams to score – 21/20
Last weekend’s game wasn’t great in the scoring department, but we’ve got some top strikers involved this weekend. Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero are both likely to find the net in our opinion, so why not back both teams to score within the 90 minutes? We understand that in both of the games this year, this outcome hasn’t happened yet, but third time’s a charm.
