Wales v Denmark Preview
It’s time for the group stages of Euro 2020, and we kick off with a bit of a barn burner between Denmark and Wales.
The Danes have come back from a disaster opening day which saw them lose to Finland while also experiencing a traumatic experience when star player Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field of play during the first half.
They were also beaten by arguably one of the greatest teams in the world in Belgium, but they thumped Russia to book their spot in the last 16 against a Wales team who have looked both impressive and lacklustre at times.
It’s a massively intriguing match-up for the opening knockout game, and we think that the odds are a bit lopsided, so you could make some big money with an upset.
Wales v Denmark Betting Odds
Denmark are pretty considerable favourites in Amsterdam, with Robert Page’s men strangely wide underdogs.
Remember that this is a knockout game, so if it goes to extra-time and/or penalties and the team you have backed to win goes through, you have still lost the bet. You must bet on the ‘to qualify’ market to back a team to go through via any method.
The Danes are 5/6 for victory (5/12 to qualify), with the draw a 9/4 shot and Wales aren’t being given a great chance at 17/4 (19/10 to qualify).
Wales v Denmark Betting Tips
Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Wales to qualify – 19/10
This seems like an absolute steal at the price. Wales went through in a better position at Euro 2016 but they did manage to beat tournament dark horses Turkey 2-0 this time around, and draw with Switzerland. We think that Switzerland and Turkey are both at the same level as Denmark, and they managed to go without losing to them. Even Italy couldn’t gain much of a foothold against the Welsh in the last group game, so we think it’s pretty likely that they can go through here.
Gareth Bale to score anytime – 3/1
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Wales will be hoping that this is the case on Saturday when their star player lines out in Amsterdam, and Gareth Bale bags his first goal of the tournament against Denmark. He scored three times at Euro 2016, including against England, and he’s one of the best players at the tournament, so we think he can get on the scoresheet in this one.
Denmark to win & both teams to score – 10/3
This seems like a really good bet at the price, which could net you £22 if you put just a fiver on. There are goals on either side of this game, and Denmark are favoured to win it in the end, so why not put a small bet on this? Remember that Wales would need to score in the 90 minutes for this to count
