England v Germany Preview
It’s one of the great rivalries in international football, and this year we get to see it go down at Wembley Stadium when England host Germany this Tuesday.
A spot in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 is up for grabs when these old enemies compete at the home of English football, and England will really be fancying their chances of helping to bring football home after their three clean sheets start.
They’ll need Pickford to remain on form, and will be hoping that Harry Kane manages to find his shooting boots, but this is a massive opportunity for Gareth Southgate’s team.
Germany will be hoping to get this to penalties…
England v Germany Betting Odds
The oddsmakers are finding it particularly difficult to split these teams with odds slightly favouring England to beat their old enemy.
Remember that this is a knockout game, so if it goes to extra-time and/or penalties and the team you have backed to win goes through, you have still lost the bet. You must bet on the ‘to qualify’ market to back a team to go through via any method.
England are 31/10 for victory (20/23 to qualify), with the draw a 9/4 shot and Germany coming in almost level with a price of 19/10 (evens to qualify).
England v Germany Betting Tips
Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
England; first team to score – evens
When England have won at this tournament, they’ve been not only the first team to score but the only ones. This game is going to be the toughest test they have faced this year, but Germany haven’t been all that impressive either, so we could definitely see England scoring early in this one. Evens seems like a good price for this bet, and Germany are a similar price of 10/11.
Germany win and both to score – 17/4
Last time these sides played in a competitive game was that fateful meeting at the 2010 World Cup. Hopefully the refereeing will be better this time around, and VAR should help to avoid any Frank Lampard ghost-goal type situations, but that was a score win for Germany, and this could be a similar result. If England can win this one, then they’ve got a great shot at the whole tournament
Harry Kane to score anytime – 17/10
Outgoing Spurs striker and England captain Harry Kane has struggled in this tournament, but he’s always been a big game player. Well, Harry, there is no bigger game than this, so we’re liking the odds on the big man up top to get back on the scoresheet for just the third time with England this year.
