France v Switzerland Preview
France were tournament favourites heading into Euro 2020, particularly as world champions, but they have yet to fully show off their potential in this tournament.
They beat the previous world champions Germany, but then struggled with Hungary, with the hosts pulling off a massive shock draw against the particularly wide favourites.
And Portugal also managed to take a point off them, so we would imagine the French will be looking to get on the scoresheet and put on an imposing performance to put the fear into their potential quarter-final opponents.
As for Switzerland, they’ll need to approach a similar approach to Hungary’s cagey performance to get anything out of this game, and while it is certainly possible, there is a reason why the oddsmakers have this match split the way it is.
France v Switzerland Betting Odds
The oddsmakers probably have this one right, with France particularly wide favourites to eliminate Switzerland tonight.
Remember that this is a knockout game, so if it goes to extra-time and/or penalties and the team you have backed to win goes through, you have still lost the bet. You must bet on the ‘to qualify’ market to back a team to go through via any method.
France are 5/8 for victory (4/18 to qualify), with the draw a 53/20 shot and Switzerland pretty sizable underdogs with a price of 5/1 (17/5 to qualify).
France v Switzerland Betting Tips
Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Both teams to score – 6/5
It’s tough to imagine a scenario in which the Swiss manage to make it past France, so we can’t really recommend too many markets that see that happening. It seems that both teams do have a decent chance of scoring, though, and the odds aren’t terrible for this market. France conceded against Hungary, and actually drew with them, while Switzerland have scored in two of their games and have more firepower than Hungary, in our opinion. This is a decent market, and France could still win comfortably if they concede.
France to win by two goals – 3/1
France could win this game 2-0 or 3-1, although they actually only won one game in their difficult group. They’ll be looking to put Switzerland to the sword here, and send a message to the rest of the tournament, so expect a 2-goal win in this match, at least.
Kylian Mbappe to score anytime – 33/20
The PSG star hasn’t managed to find the net once in this tournament, despite being a prospective contender for the golden boot when the odds came out early. He’ll want to change that early tonight, and we reckon he can do it against a team who defend in the way that Switzerland do.
