Our expert tipster has taken a look at the football betting odds for the upcoming season of Ligue 1, where big spenders PSG will be looking to get back to the summit of French football.
Ligue 1 Preview
French football was turned on its head last year when Lille managed to pull off a massive upset to win the Ligue 1 title from big spenders Paris-Saint Germain, but the capital giants are going to move heaven and earth to make sure that a repeat doesn’t happen.
Oddsmakers are offering odds on who will win the league without PSG after they went nuts in the transfer window, bringing in some of the top players from around Spain and England in an effort to reclaim their title.
Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma all made the switch to Paris this season, and that has earned them an almost unbackable status as favourites to get back on top this year.
It probably won’t be as easy as the oddsmakers think it will be, with Lyon looking solid this year thanks to the additions of a number of top players who will help them to get back on top for the first time since 2008.
They last finished as runners-up in 2016, although that season PSG absolutely monstered the rest of the league and won by almost thirty points.
Lille will have to feel a little bit hard done by after winning the league in a massive upset last year that they are priced at a massive 14/1 to retain their title, although they have lost some key players ahead of this season, so it is possibly understandable that their odds are so wide.
In terms of the “winner without PSG” market, a lot of people are overlooking Marseille, but they had a solid season last year and very well could see themselves getting towards the top of the table this time around.

Lyon to win outright – 10/1
We understand that it’s going to be very difficult for anybody to bet against PSG when it comes to winning the league title, but this Lyon squad is particularly strong and we think they have a real shot at doing something special this year. With Moussa Dembele back, and hopefully on form, this is going to be a very big season for them. The one question that must be answered is if they have championship staying power, and that will not become evident until around January or February.
Lille to win (without PSG) – 4/1
This would be a truly incredible feat, but stranger things definitely have happened. After all, they are the reigning champions of this league, but we wonder how this will be affected by the extra games they have to play with the Champions League group stages against top class opposition from around Europe
PSG to win outright – 2/13
You’re going to have to lump an absurd amount of money on this to rake in a profit, but it is our responsibility to let you know that this is almost certainly the outcome this year. PSG have one of the best squads in Europe, so don’t be surprised to see them also at the top table in Europe come April or May.
