Manchester City v Spurs Football Preview
There is a lot riding on this weekend’s opening day for both clubs, with each team missing some key players including Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden for Manchester City and the inimitable Harry Kane for Spurs.
The hosts will have Heung-Min Son up top, but a lot of the build-up to this match is centred around the future of Harry Kane, and whether or not he will stay or go. Kane has been Spurs’ star man for a number of years, but he’s publicly stated his desire to try his luck elsewhere and the Etihad looks as good a destination as any. He’s almost certain to miss out, and it remains to be seen if he will make any appearances for the London side this season.
City will be without top players De Bruyne and Foden, but they still have the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres, as well as the exciting new record-breaking signing Jack Grealish who will be looking to make an impact on the big stage after coming over from Aston Villa, so expect a big performance after a difficult Euros for the youngster.
Manchester City v Spurs Football Odds
Spurs are pretty heavy underdogs at 17/4 for victory, while Manchester City 20/33 favourites for the win. The draw is priced at 59/20, which isn’t the worst price given the early point we are at in the season.
Manchester City v Spurs Football Betting Tips
Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Spurs to win – 17/4
There were only two grounds that Manchester City lost at last season, and Spurs was one of them. They won’t want to repeat that this year, but to be honest we really love this price in a high-level match that only has three possible outcomes. City’s stars still need to gel, and they’re missing key players, so this game won’t be as easy as the oddsmakers seem to think
First team to score: Tottenham – 19/10
This one is another two horse race (unless this game is 0-0, which we’d be very surprised by), and we love the price. This would work even if Spurs get hammered, all they need is the first goal, which we think they are very capable of within the opening exchanges.
Raheem Sterling to score anytime – 9/5
The star of England’s impressive Euro 2020 run this summer, Raheem Sterling found his scoring boots over the course of the tournament and we think it’s very plausible that he will come back into his own this season. Will he start on opening day?
