Arsenal v Chelsea Football Preview
After a disaster start to the season, Arsenal need a big result in their home opener for the season against London rivals Chelsea.
Mikel Arteta’s job is going to be seriously up in the air if they start the Premier League season with two losses, having been beaten in the big upset of last weekend by newly-promoted Brentford on Friday night. This will be a much more difficult task than their first game, but Arteta will be hoping his players rise to the higher level required of them.
Star players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Thomas Partey could be missing for this week’s match, while Euro 2020 England star Bukayo Saka could start after getting a rousing reception last week.
Chelsea are probably going to miss Hakim Ziyech and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but they are hoping to have N’Golo Kante back in situ for this game.
Fans will be tuned in in their droves to watch Belgium star Romelu Lukaku make his return to the Premier League after Chelsea paid a reported €90million+ to Inter Milan for his services after Euro 2020.
If he can prove more impressive than his last spell with Manchester United, then there’s a very good chance Arsenal are in for a long evening at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal v Chelsea Football Odds
Arsenal are unnecessarily heavy underdogs at 17/5 for victory, while Chelsea sit at 4/5 as favourites for the win. The draw is priced at 5/2, which isn’t the worst price given the early point we are at in the season.
Arsenal v Chelsea Football Betting Tips
Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Arsenal to win – 17/5
Look, we understand that last Friday was bad for Arsenal. But this is football at the Emirates Stadium, and it’s going to be a fascinating matchup that very easily could go the hosts’ way. This is a three-horse race, and we certainly fancy a win more than a draw. We reckon that backing an Arsenal win will make you big money on this one, because there is a very real chance that things come good for Arteta’s men.
Chelsea to win 2-1 – 8/1
This is always a dangerous game to play, but when these two played in pre-season, the scoreline was 2-1 and we like this to be repeated. We wouldn’t recommend putting the house on this, but we think 2-1 is probably a likely scoreline for the visitors at the Emirates.
Romelu Lukaku to score anytime – 9/5
Lukaku will be desperate to get his first Premier League goal of the season in his second debut for Chelsea. He’s a fantastic striker, and we love this price for him to get back in the books.
