Our expert tipster has cast their eye over the first weekend of Premier League Fixtures after a hectic international break. He’s picked some of the best bets available on NetBet Sport football odds page.
Tottenham to beat Crystal Palace – 10/11
Spurs and Crystal Palace have had some very different starts to the season, and unfortunately for the hosts, we reckon it will continue at the same pace this weekend. Patrick Viera’s charges have yet to rack up a win in the league thus far, although they did look good against West Ham at the London Stadium right before the break. Spurs will be looking to build on their winning start, that includes a scalp over champions Manchester City, and it’s safe to assume that they’ll be able to do it at Selhurst Park. They’ve yet to concede a goal, and we can’t imagine that will change too much on Saturday.
Brighton to draw with Brentford – 2/1
You know what? Both of these sides have looked really good this year. Brentford, of course, shocked the nation with their opening day win over Arsenal. But Graham Potter’s men appear to have found some of that cutting edge that they severely lacked last season. That lack of goals almost put them in the drop zone last year, but they’ve looked a much improved outfit this time around, so expect a pretty close game here. The 7/4 Brentford win looks almost as good as the 17/10 Brighton one, and this really is what they call a “pick ‘em”, so we’ve gone for the draw, but don’t quote us on that!
Arsenal to draw with Norwich – 17/5
Two teams who have had disaster starts to the season take to the pitch at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon, with Mikel Arteta in desperate need of a win. Arsenal at 1/2 for the win is a dreadful price given what they’ve shown us this season in atrocious performances against Chelsea and particularly Manchester City, while we certainly wouldn’t feel right recommending taking the 5/1 Norwich win, no matter how tempting it seems. Arteta is surely on borrowed time already in the Arsenal hotseat, and a bad result here would almost certainly cost him his job, so perhaps we see a cracking performance like their league cup outing against West Brom here, but it’s hard to see.
Man United to beat Newcastle – 1/5
Not much value in this one at Old Trafford, but you can definitely expect a decent game. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the visitors have much of a chance this time out, but that doesn’t mean this won’t be worth watching. Newcastle have pushed West Ham and Aston Villa close this year, and did manage to sneak a draw against Southampton right before the international break. However, it looks like Ole’s troops at Old Trafford, with the returning Cristiano Ronaldo in action, will probably have a bit too much about them to drop points at this juncture. It’ll be a welcome home party for Ronaldo after over a decade away with Real Madrid and Juventus.
West Ham to beat Southampton – 7/5
Another sleeper match of Saturday afternoon is going to take place in St Mary’s as the high-flying Hammers head to face Southampton. Everton are really the only team that the hosts looked particularly poor against so far this year, although they are yet to pick up a win in the Premier League. They managed to pull off quite the scalp against Manchester United in their home debut for the year, but West Ham will be coming in much more wary of their potential threat as a result. They’ve already handily put away Newcastle and Leicester City, but they did stutter recently against Crystal Palace, so the hosts will fancy their chances here.
Man City to beat Leicester City – 4/7
We love this price at the King Power this weekend, particularly if you’re getting in on a massive accumulator (ahem). City have looked at their absolute best so far this year, despite their opening day loss to Spurs, but we fancy them to travel and beat Leicester City with a relative amount of ease on Saturday afternoon. They’ve handled the likes of Norwich City and, much more impressively, Arsenal, scoring ten and conceding none in those two games. Meanwhile, Leicester City have been beaten by West Ham after struggling against Wolves on day one, and looked laboured at times in their 2-1 win over Norwich City. Great odds on the City win
Watford to draw with Wolves – 43/20
This is another absolute cracker of a game on Saturday afternoon, that really could go either way. When you look at the Premier League fixture calendar as a neutral, you wouldn’t generally be going out of your way to circle the date that Watford play Wolves, but this could end up being a cracking little game. Two teams that definitely need a result, and both will do everything they can to get it. We’re confident enough of a draw here, and it’ll probably end up being a scored one as well.
Chelsea to draw with Aston Villa – 9/2
It’s been an interesting start to this season for both of these sides, and we’re going to go for a bit of an out there prediction on this one. Chelsea fired out of the traps, winning the UEFA Super Cup and hammering Crystal Palace and Arsenal, before eventually being halted at Anfield in a draw with Liverpool. Meanwhile, Villa had a disaster start to the year losing to Watford before picking up a win over Newcastle and a draw with Brentford. We’ve got a draw in this one as our big outside bet, but don’t stray too far from the 5/18 Chelsea win either.
Liverpool to beat Leeds – 10/13
Another game where we really like the odds on the heavy favourites. Jurgen Klopp’s side will still be haunted by their first game against Leeds United in the Premier League last year, but we reckon that they’ve shown enough thus far to indicate that they’ll be able to get past the challenge of the hosts this time around. This is definitely one that the neutrals will want to watch, and there’s no excuse given that there is literally no other Premier League football on Sunday afternoon!
Everton to beat Burnley – 20/27
We fancy a victory for the hosts in this one, in what may be something of a derby between Everton and Burnley. We just haven’t seen anything from Burnley to indicate that they’ll be anywhere other than the relegation battlezone this year, while Everton under Benitez are showing us a little bit of something thus far, and the price seems really worthwhile as well.
