European Football Accumulator
The league seasons of the top teams in Europe are all now well underway, and there will be some scintillating action across France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
In La Liga, the surprise package of the year thus far has been Real Sociedad, who somehow after nine games sit ahead of Real Madrid, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and the rest of the league at the top of the table. They’ll have to beat Atleti to keep that position on Sunday night, on a weekend that also features El Clasico between Barcelona and Madrid. The action kicks off on Friday night with Osasuna v Granada, and after a number of big games on Saturday and Sunday, it finishes on Monday night with Getafe v Celta Vigo. Spanish action then continues the following day, so La Liga fans – be prepared for a feast of football starting this weekend.
Over in Ligue 1, it’s yet another Sunday-heavy game week with just three games between Friday night and Saturday evening. St-Etienne vs Angers kicks off the action tonight before Nantes host Clermont on Saturday as well as Brest travelling to Lille. The highlight of the weekend takes place in Marseilles on Sunday night as PSG come to town for what is always one of the most exciting games of the football calendar in France. Other matches include Nice v Lyon, Lens v Metz, Reims v Troyes, Rennes v Strasbourg, Lorient v Bordeaux and Monaco v Montpellier.
In Germany, it’s not the most exciting weekend of action as Mainz host Augsburg on Friday night before RB Leipzig play Furth on Saturday. Wolfsburg v Freiburg is probably the game that jumps out the most as an exciting fixture, while we’re also looking forward to seeing Bayern and Stuttgart as they host Hoffenheim and Union Berlin respectively. Other matches include Hertha v Monchengladbach, Koln v Leverkusen and the weekend-ender between Bochum and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Serie A action this weekend has a few decent little games, including outings in Bologna for AC Milan and Atalanta hosting Udinese after their barn-burner with Manchester United in the Champions League. But the unequivocal star of this weekend’s show is the San Siro Stadium meeting between Inter Milan and Juventus. A great old school battle between two long-time rivals that will entertain fans in the last game of the weekend.

Goodness knows what happened to Barcelona this season, aside from the obvious Lionel Messi move. They’ve been unable to capture any consistent form, and they’ll feel like they need a big Clasico win here. However, Real Madrid are really good this year, and it’s hard to imagine they lose this one.
Nice v Lyon – Draw – 12/5
This is one of the standout games of the weekend in any league, and we just can’t pick between these two sides, so we’re going for the draw.
Wolfsburg v Freiburg – Wolfsburg win – 23/20
Given what we have seen from these two sides thus far, there is real value in this match if you back a Wolfsburg win. Maybe even upgrade to them winning to zero and it could be fascinating.
Inter Milan v Juventus – Inter Milan win – 11/10
This is going to be a cracker of a game, but we find it hard to imagine that Juve will be able to pick up the away win, so we’re going to pick Inter this time around.
