We’ve looked ahead to the last round of fixtures before Christmas and picked out some of the best Premier League bets available on NetBet Sport’s football odds page.
Aston Villa to beat Burnley – 20/29
Steven Gerrard has had an impressive start to his reign at Villa Park. After falling to five consecutive defeats and sacking Dean Smith, Villa have managed four wins from six league games under Gerrard – the only two defeats were narrow losses against Liverpool and Man City. Ollie Watkins has rediscovered his form since the new manager’s arrival and has found the net three times in six games. He will be a constant handful for a Burnley team on a poor run of form. Sean Dyche’s side have struggled to get over the line, drawing too many games, and the likely absence of star man Maxwel Cornet is a huge blow. We expect it to be a tight game, as Burnley don’t often loss by many, but Villa have looked good and should have enough to pick up the points.
Arsenal to beat Leeds – 11/10
Things haven’t looked as promising for Leeds this season as they did in their first campaign back in England’s top flight. A 7-0 midweek thumping at the Eithad made it just one win in seven for Marcelo Bielsa, and the defeat was particularly humbling. They have looked slightly better on home soil, but face a difficult test as they welcome Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Elland Road. Arteta has come under scrutiny time and time again for his team selection this year, and the Spaniard was forced to strip Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of his captaincy due to repeated ill-discipline. The media circus surrounding the Emirates this week could be a distraction, but the Gunners are able to silence those outlets with a performance on the pitch. It is still unknown whether Aubameyang will feature, but Arsenal have enough strength in depth to get the job done regardless.
Chelsea to beat Wolves – 1/2
A 1-0 defeat to Man City made it four consecutive games without scoring for Bruno Lage’s side. With Chelsea boasting one of the best defensive records in the league, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the home side failing to find the net once again. Thomas Tuchel’s side are on a phenomenal run of form, and the return of Romelu Lukaku has added another dimension to the Blues’ attack. This is a game that could be decided by a single goal, and we think Chelsea are far more likely to be the team that gets it. Wolves are defensively secure themselves, but don’t pose anywhere near enough threat going forward.
Man City to beat Newcastle – 1/5
This is one of the biggest mismatches we might see all season. Eddie Howe’s side simply won’t be able to cope with the depth and strength of City’s squad. Even with heavy rotation, Pep Guardiola’s side would still win this game comfortably. The Magpies have major defensive issues; issues that City will be more than happy to exploit. Newcastle might be on the end of another thrashing at St. James’ Park.
Liverpool to beat Tottenham – 20/33
Spurs have looked better defensively under Antonio Conte, but they haven’t faced opposition of Liverpool’s calibre. Jurgen Klopp’s side are on an exceptional run of form, and that must continue if they are to keep pace with champions Man City at the summit of the table. A 3-1 win at home to Newcastle reaffirmed their aspirations of a second title in three years and in Mo Salah, they have arguably the most in-form forward in world football.
