Tottenham vs Liverpool Football Preview
Tottenham face a difficult run of fixtures to end the year, but will be confident in stringing together some results with Antonio Conte at the helm. The arrival of the former Chelsea manager has brought about the expected change of system, with the Italian opting to utilise his preferred five-man defence.
Although Spurs have tightened up defensively, Conte is yet to get the best out of his main man Harry Kane. The captain has failed to get going in the league and is on course to register his lowest scoring individual campaign since breaking into the first team in 2013/14. An upturn in his form is crucial in ensuring that Tottenham remain in the hunt for top four.
Jurgen Klopp will be eyeing up the midfield battle as a place where this game can be won. There looks to be a gulf in quality of the players who will likely occupy the centre of the park for each team. Conte will opt for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and either Ollie Skipp or Harry Winks, whilst we will probably see a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago for the Reds.
Spurs’ midfield is industrious, but lacks the world class talent that is apparent amongst Liverpool’s options. We expect the visitors to dominate the possession and spend most of the game camped in Tottenham’s half, and we don’t think there are many teams in world football that can keep Liverpool from carving out chances given enough of the ball.
Our NetBet probability win counter sees a Liverpool win as most likely at 58%. A home win is seen as the least likely result at 20%, with a tie at 22%.
We’ve taken a look at the odds and picked our favourite bets ahead of this weekend’s important match-up in London.
Tottenham vs Liverpool Football Odds
Liverpool have won the last seven meetings between these two in all competitions, and Klopp’s side are favourites at 20/33 as a result. A Spurs win at home is not given much chance, but could provide good value at 7/2, whilst a draw is priced at 3/1.
Tottenham vs Liverpool Betting Tips
*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Liverpool Win and Both to Score – 41/20
We do think Liverpool will get the better of this game, but Spurs have genuine world class talent in attacking areas. Heung-Min Son has scored in his last two games, and surely it is only a matter of time before Harry Kane starts firing.
Mo Salah First Goalscorer – 14/5
Mo Salah is inevitable. Of Liverpool’s last seven games in all competitions, Salah has found the net in five of them. He is the man for the big occasion, and we can see him opening the scoring this weekend.
Draw – 3/1
For all the praise around Liverpool, Conte has done a good job at tightening up Tottenham. We are not entirely sure how they will perform as they are yet to face a top team under their new manager, but if anyone can get them a result from this game, it’s probably Conte.
