Leicester vs Watford Football Preview
Leicester’s form has been somewhat inconsistent this season, but Brendan Rogers seems to have got the Foxes back to their best in recent weeks. They were unfortunate to lose on penalties to Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, before coming back from 4-0 down at half-time to give Man City a scare at the Etihad. But Rogers got his revenge last time out, as he watched his side cling on to a 1-0 win against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
In contrast, Watford’s form couldn’t be much worse. Six straight defeats means they now sit just two points clear of the bottom three. There has also been some controversy surrounding the club as top goalscorer Emmanuel Dennis refused a call up to Nigeria’s AFCON squad, with Watford said to not be keen on losing the striker.
Whilst Watford are likely to field their strongest squad, Rogers may also be limited with what changes he can make due to a long list of injuries and absentees who have travelled for the AFCON. The likes of Ayoze Perez, Ademola Lookman, and Jamie Vardy will probably all feature at some point, and even with a depleted squad, Leicester have more quality.
Claudio Ranieri will be worrying about his team’s defensive capabilities, with the Hornets not having kept a clean sheet in the league all season. They have conceded 16 in their last six games, something which Leicester will be confident in exploiting.
Our NetBet win probability counter gives Leicester a 62% chance of winning, whilst a draw is given 22% and an away win just 16% chance.

Leicester Win and Over 2.5 – 27/20
We expect this to be a fairly open game. Watford have been poor in the league and fans would love a Cup run. However they are weak at the back and Leicester possess bundles of quality in their attacking players. If the Foxes break the deadlock early on and force Watford to be expansive, we could see goals galore.
Both Teams to Score – 4/5
For all of Leicester’s attacking prowess, Watford haven’t been too bad going forward either. Despite their poor form, they have found the net in each of their last seven games, and with Dennis looking likely to remain in England, the Hornets always stand a chance of finding the net.
Tie with Goals – 9/2
Anything can happen in the cup, and as nobody is sure what kind of line-up each manager will put out, this is definitely a possibility. Leicester are without some key players and may have to field a makeshift backline. Not a bad outside bet.
