Whilst PSG are running away with the league title, there is still plenty of jostling for positions going on beneath them. After a poor start to the season, a fine run of form has seen Monaco climb to within four points of the Champions League places as they ready themselves for a race to join Europe’s elite.
The race for Europe is also on in Germany, with just five points separating third place Leverkusen from 10th place Mainz. It is equally tight in the bottom half, where no team is safe from being dragged into a relegation fight – 12th place Monchengladbach are only four points above the drop.
Sampdoria are a club steeped in Italian footballing heritage, but the Genoan based side are sat down in 16th and are in serious danger of facing only a second season outside the top flight in nearly 20 years. At the opposite end of the table, it is advantage Inter, as AC Milan’s title hopes were dented due to a late Spezia winner at the San Siro.
Over in Spain, the title is still Real Madrid’s to lose, but Sevilla will be hoping Los Blancos have taken their eye of the ball with their Super Cup exploits Saudi Arabia. Xavi’s new-look Barcelona side came up short in Riyadh, but will now focus their attentions on securing a place in next year’s Champions League.
This Week’s European Football Betting Tips
*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change
Hoffenheim vs Dortmund: Dortmund win – 11/10
Erling Haaland is back to his best and has eight goals in as many games since returning from injury. Hoffenheim might be the best of the rest, but Dortmund are levels above, and they can’t afford to drop anymore points if they are to catch Bayern.
Sevilla vs Celta Vigo: Sevilla win – 4/6
No team has picked up more points than Sevilla in the last five games, and the home side have the best defensive record in the league by a distance. Celta Vigo haven’t won in Sevilla since 2015, and we don’t expect that to change this weekend.
Lens vs Marseille: Draw – 23/10
Lens have lost just once in 11 home games this season, whilst Marseille have won four straight away games without conceding a goal. The visitors are in better from, but Lens won’t be beaten easily.
Empoli vs AS Roma: AS Roma win – 10/13
Roma have struggled in the big games, but we can’t see them having too many issues against Empoli. Tammy Abraham has been consistent in front of goal with nine in 11 games, and Jose Mourinho has plenty of talent supporting the English striker.
