West Ham vs Wolves Football Preview
West Ham’s form has dipped slightly in recent weeks, with David Moyes’ side winning just one of their last five league games. Although they have not been losing frequently, the Hammers have found it difficult to get over the line in recent outings, surrendering leads against both Leicester and Newcastle.
The results have seen them lose ground in the race for top four, with a number of teams below them having games in hand, and defeat against Wolves this weekend could end their dreams of a spot among Europe’s elite. Wolves are in a similar position, with Bruno Lage also knowing defeat in London could put a dent in his side’s chances of a European tour next season.
The visitors have been one of the most in-form teams since the turn of the year, and although their goal scoring record is up there with the worst in the league, their defensive record is amongst the best. In the last 18 games in all competitions leading up to this week’s fixtures with Arsenal and West Ham, only one team had scored more than once against Wolves.
With Jarrod Bowen in the form of his career, West Ham will fancy their chances at home. Man United are the only team to stop Moyes’ side scoring in 2022, and with seven in nine games since the turn of the year, Bowen is the man most likely to unlock the visitors’ compact back five.
NetBet’s win probability counter has given the Hammers a slight edge due to their home advantage with 45% chance of winning. A draw is seen as the next most likely outcome at 29%, whilst an away win is given just 26% chance.
West Ham vs Wolves Football Odds
Despite Wolves 1-0 win in the last meeting between these two, the bookies have them as underdogs at 51/20. The Hammers won 4-0 the last time they hosted Wolves, and the bookies think they are favourites to get the job done again at 21/20, with a draw priced at 11/5.
West Ham vs Wolves Betting Tips
*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Tie with Goals – 7/2
There is barely anything to pick between these two sides. Whilst West Ham have the more prolific goal scorers, Wolves have the tighter defence, and both are equally strong in the air. We expect a close game, and it could go either way.
Wolves to Win by 1 Goal – 19/5
You wouldn’t put it past Wolves to nick another three points on the road. Lage’s side have won their last four league away games, winning by just one goal in three of them. They know how to get over the line.
Jarrod Bowen to Score First – 11/2
The 25 year old is playing some of the best football of his career. West Ham have been so reliant on him with the goal drought Michail Antonio is experiencing, and Bowen has rarely let his manager down.
