Manchester United vs Arsenal Football Preview
This isn’t the title-deciding clash that it might have been in the 90s and early 2000s, but there are still huge ramifications when these two meet in Manchester. United are undergoing a rebuild with Erik ten Hag and have only just started to show signs of positivity, whilst Arsenal appear to be peaking under Mikel Arteta. This will be massive test highlighting exactly where each of these sides are in the process, with defeat unimaginable for both sets of fans.
Back-to-back away victories and clean sheets have seen the Red Devils rescue their abysmal start to the campaign, but Sunday’s game will provide an entirely different proposition. The Gunners travel north having won all five of their first games, with confidence seemingly at an all-time high. Only Liverpool and Manchester City have found the net more frequently and only Brighton have conceded fewer than the visitors – Arsenal have improved their efficiency at both ends of the pitch.
United’s record has been poor in this fixture in recent years. Their 3-2 win at Old Trafford last season is their only victory in the last seven matches against Arsenal. However, the North Londoners do tend to struggle away from home against their rivals. In their last 20 trips to Old Trafford, Arsenal have won just three times, with United winning 12 and five ending all square.
Half of the last eight meetings at United have ended in score draws, with NetBet’s win probability counter giving a tie a 27% likelihood of happening. The hosts are seen as ever so slight favourites with a 38% chance of victory compared to Arsenal’s 35%. Essentially, this could go any which way!
Manchester United vs Arsenal Football Odds
Despite their poor record against the Gunners, United will go into this game at 31/20 favourites following their winning streak. An away win is currently at 33/20, with a draw providing good value at 49/20.
Manchester United vs Arsenal Betting Tips
*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Tie with goals – 11/4
Neither of these teams are the finished article, and we still fancy there to be plenty of chances at either end. Arsenal have been in better form, but in front of a bouncing Old Trafford, we can see the hosts putting up a real fight.
NetBet Boost: Man United to win 1-0 – 9/1
Consecutive 1-0 victories have given fans hope that maybe United can actually defend. It will be a tall order to prevent this free-flowing Arsenal side from finding the net, but it’s not impossible, and these are fantastic odds.
Bet Maker: Arsenal win, over 2.5 goals, Gabriel Jesus & Bruno Fernandes to score anytime – 17/1
It’s hard to look past Arsenal’s impressive start to the season – this bet is for those looking for an outside shot. There is sure to be goals in this meeting – Jesus has looked creative and clinical, whilst Fernandes is United’s constant. Wherever you choose to put your money, enjoy what promises to be a scintillating affair!
