Tottenham welcome Liverpool to North London having beaten them just once in nearly 10 years. Antonio Conte’s side are searching for form ahead of the fixture, having lost to Man United and Newcastle, whilst needing an injury time winner against Bournemouth. They have been nowhere near their best, but will fancy their chances against a Liverpool side in turmoil.
The visitors travel south after losing back-to-back league matches for the first time this campaign. A 1-0 defeat away at rock-bottom Nottingham Forest can be attributed to a bad day, but following that up with a 2-1 home defeat against Leeds is cause for concern. The Reds currently occupy ninth place, but they are far closer to the bottom three than the top four when it comes to points.
For all of Liverpool’s issues this season, you can’t help but feel they’ll be up for this game against Spurs. Both meetings ended all-square last season, but Klopp’s side had won seven straight prior to that. Unfortunately for the travelling fans, they haven’t had much joy on the road this campaign. They are yet to pick up a victory and no team has accumulated fewer points away from home.
In contrast, Spurs have looked solid on home soil. They have won seven of nine home games in all competitions, tasting defeat just once at the hands of Newcastle. The hosts are sure to have success against a Liverpool defence that has looked nowhere near their best, but it remains to be seen if they can stop the dynamic Reds attack.

Despite their poor form, Liverpool (2.28) are slight favourites ahead of the tie. After scraping three points at the death against the Cherries, it’s probably not too surprising that Spurs (2.78) are underdogs. Defensively, both have been suspect at times, hence the longer odds on either team to keep a clean sheet (2.47).
If it’s a goalscoring option you’re after, Harry Kane (5.60) and Mo Salah (6.50) both provide good value to break the deadlock, with Liverpool’s top scorer Bobby Firmino (3.15) is also a decent pick to score at any time.

Tottenham are very strong at home and Liverpool have been poor on the road. If only it were that simple! We do think Spurs have the slight edge – something is just not quite right at Liverpool. They will of course always create chances, but they haven’t looked the same defensively this season.
Heung-Min Son first goalscorer – 7.50
There are a few good goalscorer options, but we’ve gone for Son. Trent Alexander-Arnold has been caught out numerous times with defensive mistakes leading to goals. If Son occupies the left half-space, he will have plenty of joy running at Liverpool’s full-back.
