Netherlands vs USA
After remaining undefeated in a tricky group, the USA will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds and booking a spot in the quarter-finals. Draws against Wales and England, followed by a 1-0 win over Iran cemented their spot in the knockouts, where they will meet another undefeated nation.
Netherlands were favourites to top their group, which they managed without too much trouble. A matchday three win over hosts Qatar kept alive the dream of a first World Cup title, and they will head into the USA game full of confidence.
Cody Gakpo is perhaps the standout player of the tournament thus far, with the PSV forward set to lead the line once more as speculation circles around his domestic future. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the Americans, but the Netherlands will be the end of the road.
Netherlands to win – 1.97
Argentina vs Australia
Nobody gave Australia a chance of progressing from their group, but here they are. Back-to-back 1-0 wins in their second and third games were enough to see them advance ahead of Tunisia. Whilst their passion has been on full display, they have also ridden their luck at times – the Socceroos have conceded the highest expected goals against in the competition.
Argentina have barely gotten out of second gear yet, but we expect them to turn it up as the tournament progresses. Australia concede plenty of chances, Argentina have the players to capitalise. It would be one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history if Australia sent the Argentines packing.
Argentina to win to nil – 1.60
France vs Poland
Poland have landed themselves in the round of 16 without putting together a really impressive performance. They followed up an uninspired 0-0 draw against Mexico with a professional 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia, before losing to Argentina. They might have one of the best goalscorers in the world, but have failed to provide him consistent service.
Poland face the unenviable task of battling the champions in the last 32. Led by the tournament’s joint top scorer Kylian Mbappe, France are backed by many to go all the way and retain their title. They are an incredibly well-balanced outfit and should dispatch of Poland fairly comfortably.
France to win to nil – 1.81
England vs Senegal
England face the AFCON champions Senegal in their round of 16 tie. Senegal have looked as dynamic going forwards as they’ve looked vulnerable at the back in Qatar. They are yet to keep a clean sheet, which includes conceding Qatar’s only goal of the tournament.
England should have enough attacking quality to expose the Senegal back-line. They will need to be wary of the pace in transition, but it looks a favourable tie for the Three Lions. NetBet are offering a £5 Free Bet when you place a £10 bet on the England vs Senegal match.
England to win to nil – 2.10
