Liverpool to beat Brighton – 2.02
Defeat to Brentford aside, Liverpool are in good form. Arsenal are the only team to have picked up more points than Jurgen Klopp’s side in the last five games. They make the trip south in desperate need of three points as they battle to keep pace in the race for Champions League football.
Things have started to click for Brighton under new boss Roberto De Zerbi, but their home form remains a lingering issue – they have won just once in their last five games at the Amex. Liverpool have strengthened further in January with the addition of Cody Gakpo, and Brighton will do well to keep the Reds at bay.
Brentford to beat Bournemouth – 1.63
Saturday’s late kick-off comes from the Community Stadium, where an in-form Brentford take on Bournemouth. Only three teams have won more points than Brentford in the last five games, with the hosts closer to the top four than the bottom three.
In contrast, Bournemouth have lost five straight games in all competitions, including a 4-2 FA Cup defeat against Championship Burnley. What’s more, they have failed to score in four of those five games. The Cherries are being sucked into a relegation battle, whilst the Bees are in the ascendancy.
Newcastle to beat Fulham – 1.52
Perhaps the two biggest surprise packages of the season go head-to-head on Sunday. Newcastle are unbeaten in the league since August last year and have not lost a home game all season. They face a tricky task when they welcome Fulham to St. James’ Park, but it is a game which they should be winning.
Fulham have proved a handful for almost every team they’ve come up against this season, but defensively they are far from the finished article. We expect a tight game in the north east, but Newcastle should have the quality to get over the line.
Chelsea to beat Crystal Palace – 1.63
Yes, Chelsea have been in poor form, but you have to consider the opposition they’ve been up against. Of their last six defeats, three have been against champions Manchester City, one came against league leaders Arsenal, and one was against the high-flying Newcastle. They have had an extremely tough run of fixtures.
We think they will take all three points at home against a stuttering Crystal Palace. The Eagles made immediate progress last season under Patrick Vieira, but those improvements have stalled somewhat. They have won just twice in their last eight away games and face another tough test at Stamford Bridge.
