Leeds to beat Accrington Stanley – 1.50
Never back the early kick off, right? Well, we’ve made an exception because we can’t see anything other than a Leeds victory at the Wham Stadium. Jesse Marsch’s side have lost just once in their last six and should have far superior quality throughout, even if the American decides to rotate.
Accrington Stanley are having a poor season, hovering just outside the League One relegation zone. What’s more, they haven’t exactly impressed in this competition either. They needed a replay and an extra time goal to get past mid-table National League side Boreham Wood. It should be the end of the road for John Coleman and Accrington Stanley.
Burnley to beat Ipswich – 2.15
Vincent Kompany is doing a cracking job at Turf Moor – Burnley are one of English football’s most in-form teams. The Clarets have won 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions, with the only defeat coming against a rejuvenated Manchester United.
Ipswich are also having a strong season under former Man United coach Kieran McKenna – they sit third in League One, four points adrift of automatic promotion. Although they are difficult to beat at home, their form has faltered somewhat in recent weeks. Just two wins in six leaves Ipswich as underdogs against a soon-to-be Premier League outfit in Burnley.
Blackburn to beat Birmingham – 2.31
Our next pick’s an all-Championship affair. Blackburn are fourth with the joint third best home record, while Birmingham are down in 19th. The hosts have won seven of their last nine home games against Championship opposition, including a 2-1 win when these two met at Ewood Park in October.
The visitors arrive in Blackburn having lost four of their last five, with the only win coming against bottom of League One Forest Green. Birmingham have lost five consecutive times in this fixture and have not won a game at Blackburn since 2013.
Sheffield United to beat Wrexham – 1.78
Top of the National League and buoyed by the success under new celebrity owners, Wrexham will fancy their chances of knocking out Championship opposition at the Racecourse. But it’s one hell of a task.
Sheffield United are second in the Championship and have lost just once in their last 14 games in all competitions. They are also very strong on the road – no team in the EFL has accumulated more points away from home this season, a run which includes six wins in their last seven. Wrexham will put a serious fight, but the fairytale will likely come to an end.
