Tottenham vs Man City Football Preview
City bounced back from defeat in the Manchester derby with three consecutive wins. Pep Guardiola’s side remain five points adrift of Arsenal, but should be happy just to stay within touching distance given they still have to play the league leaders twice.
Tottenham squandered a 2-0 lead at half-time to lose 4-2 at the Etihad a fortnight ago. With top four the aim, Antonio Conte’s side can’t afford too many more defeats, especially given the form of Manchester United, Newcastle, and even Brighton.
Spurs might not be in the best form ahead of the tie, but they boast an impressive record at home against City. They have beaten the visitors in four successive home games, without conceding a single goal. When you also factor in City have lost back-to-back away matches, there will be a few Arsenal fans quietly confident that their North London rivals can pull off an upset.
Tottenham vs Man City Football Odds
Despite their strong home record against this weekend’s opposition, Spurs are 4.20 underdogs. City arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium heavy 1.72 favourites, with a draw priced at 4.00. There were six goals when these two met recently, with the odds currently at 8.00 for over 5.5 goals once more.
Both teams to score is heavily backed at 1.60, with Erling Haaland (3.60) leading the odds to break the deadlock for City, followed by Julian Alvarez (6.60). Harry Kane (6.80) is Spurs’ most likely opening goalscorer, with Heung-Min Son (11.00) and new signing Arnaut Danjuma (11.00) making up the top three.
Premier League Betting Tips
Both teams to score: No – 2.25
Five of the last seven meetings between these two have ended with either team keeping a clean sheet. Spurs have also kept four straight clean sheets at home against City. We wouldn’t put it past Conte to organise a defensive masterclass, but Pep is equally likely to coach a dominant win to nil.
1st half result: Draw – 2.42
Tottenham will be as compact as possible for the first 45 minutes. City will be wary of what happened in the recent game and will take steps to nullify the counter-attack. Three of the last four meetings have been all-square at half-time – this could be the latest in the list.
Anytime goalscorer: Heung-Min Son – 4.10
Son loves playing City in North London. The South Korean has netted in Tottenham’s last four home games against the Sky Blues. Always a willing runner, if Spurs are to have any success in the transition, Son will be pivotal.
