Aston Villa to beat Nottingham Forest – 1.63
Aston Villa have quietly snuck into European contention after winning five of their previous six. Unai Emery has worked wonders since his arrival at Villa Park and they might just have hit form at the perfect time. They have kept four clean sheets in six and Ollie Watkins is enjoying a purple patch – the 27-year-old has netted eight in his previous 10 appearances.
In contrast, Forest are going backward. They are winless in eight and in real danger of slipping back into the Championship after having spent masses of money in the summer. No team has accumulated fewer points away from home than Steve Cooper’s, and it’s tough to see them turning things around against an in-form Villa.
Leicester to draw with Bournemouth – 3.77
Bournemouth’s recent performances have given them hope of survival. The Cherries impressed with victories against Liverpool and Fulham, whilst also creating plenty of chances against a strong Brighton side. Gary O’Neil’s side travel to the Midlands this weekend for a proper relegation six-pointer – a win could lift them out of the bottom three, something which was inconceivable a few months ago.
Leicester’s journey with Brendan Rodgers came to an end after defeat to Crystal Palace and the Foxes have now lost seven of their last eight. At the start of the season, they were being talked about as being in European contention. With the quality littered throughout their side, it would be a massive failure for the club if they were to go down.
Tottenham to draw with Brighton – 3.51
This is a tricky one to call between two teams that can beat anyone on their day. Spurs are in a strong position to finish in the top four but have won just once in their last six in all competitions. Back-to-back draws against Southampton and Everton have stalled their progress somewhat, with a visit from Brighton set to test them further.
The Seagulls continue to impress under Roberto De Zerbi and they have lost just once in 15 matches in 2023. It’s never an easy task to win in North London, but Brighton are as game as they come. We’re backing a score draw in this one.
Chelsea to beat Wolves – 1.96
There have just been a few signs of Chelsea shifting through the gears in the past week. Despite going down 2-0 at home to Aston Villa, they had enough chances in the first half to win the game and were let down by some poor finishing. The story was much the same when they hosted Liverpool in the week – they were much the better side and should have claimed all three points.
Wolves have won once in seven and are by no means safe from the threat of relegation. Only Leicester and Southampton have won fewer points on home soil and we think that trend will continue when Chelsea roll into the Wolverhampton.
