We’re back at Aintree this week as we gear up for one of the most lucrative horse race in the world, the Grand National. After correctly predicting a 2-2 in the Liverpool vs Arsenal game, we caught up with Ray Parlour once again to see who he’s backing in the iconic race.
NetBet are now paying six places on the Grand National! Head online to check out the latest horse racing odds and to place a bet of your own on the big race.
Ray Parlour on the Grand National Favourites
Corach Rambler and Delta Work will be among the favourites heading into the race and Parlour’s not surprised based on their recent runs.
“I can see why Corach Rambler is the favourite. He ran a really good race at Cheltenham. I liked Delta Work in the Cross Country – it was a two-horse race, but he jumped so well. Once he jumped the last he just went clear.”
Late money has seen Lucinda Russell’s Corach Rambler slip down the odds in the build-up to Aintree’s main event, but she will be quietly confident after Derek Fox survived a late injury scare to take the reins.
There will also be plenty fancying Delta Work’s chances after a strong showing at Cheltenham. Keith Donoghue rode the 10-year-old to a hard-fought victory over Galvin in the Cross Country Chase, and there is plenty still to come from Gordon Elliot’s star.
Can Noble Yeats Win Consecutive Grand Nationals?
Sean Bowen will be dreaming of riding Noble Yeats to a second successive Grand National victory on Saturday, as they look to join an elite club of just nine horses that have won the race on multiple occasions. Parlour thinks Noble Yeats will put on a better showing than a month prior at Cheltenham.
“Noble Yeats, last year’s winner – he has a chance. He had a solid run in the Gold Cup but was never going to get near the winner. Now his weight will be better.”
Never going to get near the winner might even be an understatement! Bravemansgame set an impressive pace, eclipsed only by the incredible Galopin Des Champs, who eased on the gas and cruised over the line in what looked to be third gear. But this is a young horse that is only improving.
Ray Parlour’s Grand National Tips
Mr Incredible – 12/1
“He ran a really good race on a big weight at Cheltenham and I think he will relish the extra distance at Aintree.”
Our Power E/W – 20/1
“I also really like the look of Our Power if he jumps well and has been well treated. He’s only run twice and is around a 20/1 shot, so I’m going to have a little bet.”
