Europa League Final Preview
No team has more experience in Europa League finals than Sevilla. Six times they have reached this stage, lifting the trophy on all six occasions. They have enjoyed unprecedented dominance in this competition in the last two decades, but Jose Mourinho’s Roma will prove a tricky final obstacle to overcome.
Mourinho has an exceptional record on the European stage. The Special One has been victorious in all five European finals he has reached, twice with Porto, once with Inter and Manchester United, and most recently, last season’s Conference League victory with Roma. If there is one man that can topple Sevilla in this competition, it’s Mourinho.
Roma have endured a tumultuous domestic campaign and are still battling Juventus and Atalanta for a spot in the top six and a place in next year’s Europa League. However, victory in Budapest would take all the pressure off their final Serie A game, with European glory also awarding them a spot in the next Champions League campaign.
The situation is largely the same for Sevilla. The Spanish side have had a poor season in La Liga and would need a lot to go their way on the final day to qualify for the Conference League. But for all of their domestic frailties, their form in this competition cannot be overlooked. Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side have already dispatched of Manchester United and Juventus en route to the final.
Sevilla vs Roma Football Odds
The odds are split almost perfectly down the middle. Sevilla head into the tie at 2.73, while Roma are at 2.81, with a draw priced at 2.87. Both teams to score is enough to double your stake at 2.06, with either side to keep a clean sheet heavily backed at 1.71.
Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri is currently leading the odds to break the deadlock in the final at 5.30, followed by Rafa Mir (6.20). It remains to be seen whether Paulo Dybala will feature after being sidelined for a few games due to injury, but the Argentine is tied with Tammy Abraham at 7.00 as most likely to open the scoring for Roma.
Europa League Final Betting Tips
Roma win to nil – 3.90
It’s no secret how Mourinho sets his teams up and we don’t expect his Roma side to suddenly come out all guns blazing. In the previous four European finals, he has guided his team to a win and a clean sheet.
Bet Builder: Dybala to score anytime, Gonzalo Montiel to be carded, over 39.5 booking points – 7.50
If Dybala starts, we like the odds on him opening the scoring. He has enjoyed a strong first season in Rome and has scored 16 goals in all competitions, including four in the Europa League. We also think this tie could get tasty and Montiel looks a good option to pick up a card. The full-back has picked up 10 yellow cards this season and could find himself up against an in-form Stephan El Shaarawy on the wing.
