Euro 2024 Qualifier: Malta vs England
Friday 16th June, 7:45pm
Ta’ Qali National Stadium, Malta
Malta vs England Football Preview
England got off to the perfect start with a 2-1 win over their biggest Group C rivals Italy. This was followed up with a comfortable 2-0 win against Ukraine, placing England in a strong position at the summit. Gareth Southgate’s side will be fully expected to top the group from this point, with another three points in Malta sure to solidify their spot further.
Malta have suffered a very different fate in their opening two fixtures. Defeats against North Macedonia and Italy have nailed them to the bottom of the group, with qualification to next summer’s Euros looking like a distant dream.
There are a couple of new introductions – namely Lewis Dunk and Ebere Eze – but Gareth Southgate has largely gone with the tried and tested squad we have become so familiar with. There is an abundance of world-class talent littered across this England squad and anything other than a dominant performance victory will be seen as a failure.
Euro 2024 Qualifier Odds
Rather unsurprisingly, England are huge favourites at 1.02, with a Malta win (23.00) and a draw (10.00) offering potentially big returns. Both teams to score is at 3.57, while either team to keep a clean sheet is more heavily favoured at 1.25.
The bookies are expecting goals, with over 2.5 (1.27), over 3.5 (1.68) and over 4.5 goals (2.50) all attracting plenty of attention. Harry Kane is the man leading the odds to break the deadlock at 2.89, followed by his teammates Callum Wilson (3.72), Marcus Rashford (4.60), Bukayo Saka (5.70) and Phil Foden (5.70).
Malta vs England Football Betting Tips
NetBet Boost: Kane to score first – Was 2.94, now 3.40
NetBet are offering cracking odds for Harry Kane to open the scoring. He has found the net in each of his previous four appearances in an England shirt, and will no doubt be on penalty duty. His record in international football is incredible, especially in qualifiers against weaker teams.
Bet Builder: England win to nil, over 3.5 goals, over 7.5 England corners, Kane to score 2+ goals – 5.00
We’re expecting England to dominate from the outset and throughout. If a goal goes in early, it could end 4, 5, or 6-0. Plenty of England corners will come with the territory. Kane tends to excel in these games. He should have plenty of chances, and if anyone can convert, it’s the Spurs man.
