The first day of racing at Royal Ascot certainly didn’t disappoint! We’re back with another set of betting tips ahead of the second day’s action.
NetBet Sport are paying extra places on a number of races every day at Ascot, including the 15:05, 17:00 and 18:10 on Wednesday. Head online to check out all the latest horse racing odds.
14:30 – Queen Mary Stakes
We’re kicking things off on day two with a 5-furlong sprint. Beautiful Diamond and Born to Rock are leading the way and look difficult to beat after impressive outings this year. We’re just about siding with William Buick and Beautiful Diamond after the filly cruised to a 3½ length victory in Nottingham just a few weeks ago.
Beautiful Diamond @ 5.00
15:05 – Kensington Palace Stakes
NetBet are paying five places on the second race of the day and we’re looking to take full advantage of it in the each-way market. We like the look of Indian Wish after a 2½ length victory at Gowran Park in May. With rain in the air, four wins on soft to yielding ground is a bonus for O’Brien’s 4-year-old.
Indian Wish E/W – 13.00
15:40 – Duke of Cambridge Stakes
Grand Dame is yet to race in 2023 but has a strong record over a mile and is never too far from the front. The only exception is a poor showing at Ascot last year, finishing second-last in a race won by Inspiral. Aside from that, Grand Dame has placed in all five races run, and the four-year-old will be expected to improve on last year’s outing.
Grand Dame E/W @ 7.50
16:20 – Prince of Wales Stakes
We can’t ignore the frontrunner in this one – Luxembourg looked classy in a 1/2 length victory over Bay Bridge at Curragh, putting a poor showing as favourite behind him. The 4-year-old has three Group 1 victories to his name and looks the one to beat under Ryan Moore.
Luxembourg @ 3.25
17:00 – Royal Hunt Cup
There’s plenty more value in this one with NetBet paying six places, and we’ve picked out a couple of nice each-way options. First up is Godolphin’s Ghaly, who has won four times over a mile, including an impressive victory at Newmarket last time out, beating King of Conquest. Another good-looking runner is Dunum, who has placed in 11/16 outings. An SP favourite in six consecutive races, Dunum tends to rise to the challenge, winning four of those and finishing second in the others.
Ghaly E/W @ 10.00
Dunum E/W @ 13.00
17:35 – The Queen’s Vase
We’re backing Oisin Murphy and Saint George in The Queen’s Vase. Back-to-back victories at Southwell and Doncaster are sure to attract some attention from punters, but there is plenty of each-way value in the three-year-old as it stands. Not one of the best rated horses, but certainly one that could cause an upset.
Saint George E/W @ 12.00
18:10 – Windsor Castle Stakes
Barnwell Boy stormed to victory on debut at Goodwood, beating Packard by 4½ lengths. We expect the favourite to have another strong showing with Jane Newett’s 2-year-old still providing value at 3.75. NetBet are paying four places on the final race so there is also some each-way value to be had. In that market, we’re looking at World Of Darcy, who was ridden to victory in May at Pontefract, before being beaten handedly at Sandown. That being said, there’s a lot to like about this horse.
Barnwell Boy @ 3.75
World Of Darcy E/W @ 17.00
