Wolves to beat Ipswich – 2.68
Wolves haven’t enjoyed their start to the season. With just one league win and a host of tough results for them, this could well be a chance to get that winning feeling back for Gary O’Neil’s men. After a draw away at Luton, they will see this as a chance to get a much-needed win.
Although results have gone against them, there have been moments of quality for Wolves and they have some real talent in their ranks. The likes of Pedro Neto, Nelson Semedo, and Joao Gomes are top players. Although Ipswich have been in great form and are looking like promotion candidates early on, Wolves will be too much for them here.
Brighton to beat Chelsea – 2.69
If you’d have predicted this result five seasons ago you’d have been looking at long odds for Brighton, but given the form and improvements made on the south coast, they are almost favourites for this one. But now, they are quite simply the better side. While Brighton are flying high, a model club that seems to have the manager, boardroom and players all pulling in the same direction, things couldn’t be more different at Chelsea.
They can’t buy a win, quite literally. All of their off-field shenanigans seem to be transported onto the pitch every week. It’s just a case of one side having a clear plan being implemented well, while Chelsea look rudderless and lost. Unbeaten in the last five meetings, winning the last two; Brighton will want to make it three wins from three against Chelsea.
Arsenal to beat Brentford – 2.07
Arsenal will be slightly disappointed with their result at the weekend. The Gunners didn’t even have time to finish celebrating their second before Heung-Min Son and the Spurs side equalised and snatched a point. They will be hoping to bounce back this week against Brentford and get back to winning ways.
Mikel Arteta has been taking the League Cup seriously. Realistically, it’s one of their best options for silverware this season, and Arteta’s men will want to capitalise where possible. Brentford have been out of sorts lately. They haven’t won for a few weeks now and it doesn’t get much tougher than heading to the Emirates. We can’t see them getting anything from this one.
Manchester City to beat Newcastle – 2.51
After thumping Sheffield United 8:0, Newcastle will come flying into this one. But, Manchester City are the best team in world football and have earned their place in the Hall of Fame. The City juggernaut marches on towards another successful season, and this year, they look better than ever.
You just wouldn’t bet against them. Also, Pep Guardiola loves this trophy, winning five of the last seven available. While the Sky Blues are without Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and co seem to have really stepped up. Whether it is Newcastle, Bayern Munich or Barcelona, this City side just looks a level above and you can’t see them slipping up anytime soon.
Liverpool to beat Leicester – 1.46
It’ll be nice to see the Foxes back playing Premier League opposition. While they currently sit top of the Championship table, it is Liverpool who look to be back to their best and will want to hoover up as many trophies as possible this year.
While the Reds aren’t playing Champions League Football and will have their eyes on the league, the League Cup will certainly be on the radar for Jurgen Klopp. They have started this season really well and new signings seem to be settling in. This could be another good year for Liverpool if they can continue this good early form.
