Aston Villa to beat Luton – 1.26
Let’s start with Villa. Unai Emery has turned Villa Park into a fortress. It was another convincing home win last weekend against West Ham who arrived in pretty good form. Ollie Watkins and co. made light work of the visitors. With 17 goals in the process – Unai Emery’s team has a 100% home record. A worrying stat for the arriving Luton side. It’s yet to be seen where the ceiling is for this Villa side. Could the Champions League be a real possibility? If they continue in this vein, why not?
For the traveling Luton, life in the Premier League has been tough. Although they find themselves outside the relegation zone, you can’t see them surviving the season. With Aston Villa in their current form, this might be one of their toughest tasks so far. Although they were good in their draw away with Nottingham Forest, going to Aston Villa is a much, much tougher test. Villa could very realistically run away with this one.
Brighton to beat Fulham – 1.55
Brighton are once again back in their groove. After a few bumps in the road, the quality of Roberto De Zerbi’s men is shining through once again. Brighton grew into the game against Manchester City last weekend and ended up losing by just one goal. There is no shame in that. After winning on Thursday against Ajax, they will bounce into this weekend. Ansu Fati has got up and running and this could be the start of a great run for the Seagulls.
Fulham on the other hand have been stuck in a run of tough games. Going to Brighton is no easy task these days and they have dished out their fair share of maulings at home. The Cottagers lost 2-0 at home to the Spurs in their last league fixture and unfortunately, a trip to Brighton seems like an even more difficult prospect. On the back of mid-week glory, De Zerbi’s men will be hoping that this will start a roll. It could well be another good week for the Gulls.
West Ham to beat Everton – 2.11
West Ham have had a tough run of games including Liverpool, Newcastle, and an away trip to Aston Villa. Although the results haven’t been great, they seem to have played well. Taking just four points from five, they will be ready to pick up this weekend against Everton. You just never know what to say about Everton. With Sean Dyche at the helm, many people thought it was going to be the start of a new era. But he’s fallen at the same hurdles as his predecessors.
For Everton, it is going to be another year just surviving. With the off-field allegations swirling around it’s going to be hard for this team to concentrate on the football. Should they go through with the point deduction, they would be adrift at the bottom with -5 points leaving them all but relegated. This will surely be on their minds this weekend. West Ham will want to get back up and running and have the quality to put this Everton side to bed at home.
Leicester to beat Queens Park Rangers – 1.36
Leicester City look a cut above the rest in the Championship. They find themselves at the top and five points clear. With the Premier League quality still bolstering their ranks they are making light work of the second division in England. Although they had some star players taken away this summer, they still have the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy, and Wilfried Ndidi. The Foxes have lost just once this season and are fresh off the back of an away win against an in-form Swansea. They travel to west London in unbelievable form.
QPR on the other hand only has eight points. They have really struggled and relegation is becoming a real possibility for the hoops. They have been so poor and with so much change in the backroom staff, players, and turnover it looks like a club in turmoil. Leicester will make light work this weekend and there’s not much more to be said. This is two clubs in very different places.
Portsmouth to beat Reading – 2.06
Things once again seem to be going right for Pompey. They sit four points clear at the top of League One and are hoping to once again climb up the football league. They have lost just once this season and are bouncing their way back into the Championship. This weekend’s trip to Reading could take them three points closer.
For Reading, it’s been a really tough season. With just six points and only Cheltenham below them, relegation looms. It will take a miracle for them to march up the table, but recent form suggests that won’t happen. It’s top versus bottom and there is only one way this is going to go.
