Newcastle to beat Bournemouth – 1.67
Newcastle will be confident as they arrive on the south coast given their recent form in the league. Although they lost in the week against a very good Dortmund, Bournemouth just aren’t at that same level. The Magpies are unbeaten in the last seven and have won five of them. Eddie Howe’s side is one of the best in the league away from home and this weekend they will be feeling confident. On their day it’s a side that can beat anyone in Europe, the incredible victory against PSG is proof of that.
Bournemouth in contrast sit in the relegation zone and are struggling to see where any points are going to come from. Their fans will be looking down and expecting the worst, potentially the Championship. Although it’s a long season, they have lost seven of the last
ten in the league. Not good signs for the Cherries.
Liverpool to beat Brentford – 1.36
Liverpool were stopped from making it three wins on the bounce by Luton on Sunday evening. The Reds struggled at Kenilworth Road in a topsy-turvy game that honestly, could have gone either way. The unpredictable Darwin Nunez showed us why he can be such a handful and such a frustrating player with some moments of brilliance along with missing an open goal. But, they came away with a point at a ground they have historically struggled at.
Brentford have been enjoying a good run of form themselves winning three on the spin, including beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool have only lost to Brentford four times in the club’s history, the most recent is in January this year. However, Brentford have only won at Anfield once, way back in 1937. Liverpool will be confident they can get back to winning ways this weekend and put pressure on the leaders.
Aston Villa to beat Fulham – 1.57
Aston Villa’s home form has been brilliant. They sit fifth in the table and will be dreaming of more European football if they can keep up this run. They are also yet to be beaten at home this season and have seen off the likes of Chelsea and Brighton at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins is one of the most in-form strikers in the league and the arrival of 15th-place Fulham this weekend will have the Villa striker itching to get out there and add to his goal tally.
For Fulham, it’s been a tough run. Their last win was at home to a very poor Sheffield United side that sit last. Against top-half opposition, they have struggled massively and a trip to Villa Park won’t spark excitement amongst the squad. Villa will hope they can pile on the goals here against a side that has struggled away from home.
Leicester to beat Middlesbrough – 2.30
Leicester City had been walking the league until last Friday night. They tasted their first defeat at the hands of Leeds who came away 1-0 winners at the King Power Stadium. However, they will want to bounce back. With a mostly Premier League squad, you can see them doing the business away at Middlesbrough and getting themselves back to winning ways. They still lead the Championship and will want to stay at the top with Ipswich just three points behind.
For Boro, they have been playing some incredible stuff under Michael Carrick, and play-off and promotion hopes are still alive. Although they are thirteenth in the table they will be hoping to climb in the coming weeks. However their home form has been poor, losing to Millwall, Stoke, and notably a struggling Queens Park Rangers. The prospect of a brilliant Leicester side will worry Boro.
Portsmouth to beat Charlton – 1.65
Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last ten matches, winning eight of them. It’s been a brilliant run of form for Pompey and they will be dreaming of the Championship next season. They are bang in form and haven’t lost at Fratton Park so far this season. Confidence is sky high, and rightly so.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Charton’s away form has been shocking. They have only won once away from home, last weekend in a close 3-2 victory away at Wigan. They have been in form at home, but away is a different story and Portsmouth will be confident going into this one.
