Tottenham to beat Brighton @ 1.80
Spurs have a chance to get themselves back in the top four this weekend as they take on a Brighton side fresh off a derby day victory versus Palace. After Everton’s late equaliser last weekend, Ange Postecoglou’s team is now in fifth place, having missed a chance to tie with Aston Villa and Arsenal. Brighton thumped a poor Palace side in the M23 derby, however, they have had huge problems on the road; the four-goal thumping at the hands of Luton is a perfect example of their frailties away from the Amex.
Brighton have a poor away record with only one win in nine on the road. Spurs on the other hand have won all of the past four games at home. Although they lost in the last meeting between these two sides, Ange will feel positive about Brighton’s problems away from the South Coast. Despite earlier season injuries, Ange Postecoglou is nearly ready to have a fully fit squad, with no new worries from last weekend. Spurs will be feeling confident they can get back into the top four challenge.
Luton to beat Sheffield United @ 1.71
The relegation battle might be just as lively. People had written off Luton, however, they now find themselves out of the drop zone. Sheffield United and Luton were promoted to the top flight last season, aiming to stay in the division. However, one is steadily climbing after a tough start, while the other appears to be accepting their fate. The Blades are ten points adrift at the bottom of the table, with Luton one point ahead of Everton in the drop zone, with a game in hand.
In the last five meetings between these two sides, there have been two draws, two wins for Luton, and one win for Sheffield United. Most of these matches were in the Championship, with Luton winning the reverse fixture earlier this season at Bramall Lane. Although Luton have picked up points on the road, most recently away to Newcastle, it’s their home results that will give them the most hope. We’re backing them to win another one at home here against a Sheffield United side that can’t win home or away.
Newcastle to beat Nottingham Forest @ 1.99
Newcastle’s last outing was an eight-goal thriller against Luton Town. Sean Longstaff scored twice, with goals also coming from Gabriel Osho and Ross Barkley, making it 2-2 at halftime. Luton then took a 4-2 lead with a penalty from Carlton Morris and a goal from Elijah Adebayo. However, Newcastle fought back with goals from Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes, securing a 4-4 draw.
In their last five games across all competitions, Nottingham Forest have secured one win, drawn twice, and suffered two losses.
After a top start to the season, Newcastle have dropped off and need to get back to winning ways. Although they are on the road, this is one of the games they will fancy getting a result in. They do seem to be better. They won their last away game against the in-form Aston Villa. Although Forest won this reverse fixture, we think Newcastle will seek revenge this weekend.
Wolves to beat Brentford @ 2.12
Wolves face Brentford this weekend with the opportunity to climb into the Premier League’s top half if they secure three points. Brentford, too, need a win as they hover dangerously close to the relegation zone. Presently, Wolves occupy the 10th position in the Premier League after 23 games. With nine wins, five draws, and nine losses, they have 32 points, trailing Newcastle by just one point and Brighton by three. Brentford currently occupy the 15th spot in the Premier League, with six wins, four draws, and 11 losses in 21 games.
The Bees have collected 22 points, maintaining a slim three-point lead over the relegation zone, albeit with two games in hand on their rivals. Comparing their scoring record to Wolves, Brentford have a slightly lower tally. They’ve scored 31 goals in 21 matches, averaging 1.48 goals per game. Defensively, The Bees have struggled as well, conceding 36 goals and managing only three clean sheets. Wolves will fancy themselves at home this weekend after a stellar win away at Chelsea. We fancy them to continue their good run and send Brentford into a relegation battle.
Liverpool to beat Burnley @ 1.14
After a disappointing 3-1 loss at the Emirates against Arsenal last weekend, Liverpool will aim to bounce back as they face Burnley at home. The defeat to their title rivals has narrowed their lead at the top to just two points over Arsenal, with Manchester City also closing in, holding a game in hand. For Jurgen Klopp’s side, this match is crucial to either maintain or extend their lead at the summit.
Liverpool’s loss to Arsenal marked only their second defeat in the Premier League this season, with the first occurring away at Tottenham in late September. Burnley find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle, sitting 19th, seven points adrift from safety, and only three points above bottom-placed Sheffield United. You can’t see this going any other way apart from a Liverpool victory. It would be a huge upset if Burnley could pull this one off. Unlikely.
