Euro 2024 is on the horizon, with 24 countries set to battle for glory in venues all across Germany. The host nation are one of the big favourites to lift the trophy, along with England, France, Spain and Portugal.

Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo will be eyeing yet more goals on the European Championship stage, having previously won the tournament in 2016. But where does the Al-Nassr superstar rank among the top scorers of all time? Well, NetBet has all the answers as we provide the leading five goal-getters in Euros history.

5. The Six-Goal Club

Eight players have chalked up six goals in the Euros arena. The members of this prestigious club are as follows:

Alvaro Morata (Spain), Thierry Henry (France), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden), Patrick Kluivert (Netherlands), Romelu Lukaku (Belgium), Nuno Gomes (Portugal), Wayne Rooney (England), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Netherlands)

Morata and Lukaku are the two active players among the octet and given the strength of their respective sides heading into Euro 2024, they could make huge strides on the list this summer.

=3. Alan Shearer (England) – Seven Goals

Shearer’s impressive tally of seven goals came from just nine appearances at the Euros. The Newcastle legend scored five times in the 1996 tournament, including a brace in the famous 4-1 Wembley victory over the Netherlands as England reached the semi-finals. He scored twice four years later when the Three Lions exited at the group stage with a whimper.

=3. Antoine Griezmann (France) – Seven Goals

Another active player who will look to boost his ranking this summer. Griezmann scored six times at Euro 2016 as France finished as runners-up behind Portugal, which saw him win the Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament awards. The Atletico Madrid ace bagged his seventh goal against Hungary at Euro 2020.

2. Michel Platini (France) – Nine Goals

Platini’s place on this list is made all the more absurd by the fact he played in just one Euros. The Juventus icon dazzled (to say the very least) at Euro 1984 as France won the tournament for the very first time, the legendary playmaker netting nine times in five games. Platini bagged hat-tricks against Belgium and Yugoslavia, before scoring the opener in the 2-0 final victory over Spain.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) – 14 Goals

It’s not even close at the top, though. With 14 goals in 25 appearances, Ronaldo is the undisputed king of the Euros (well, in terms of goals anyway). He will be appearing at a record sixth tournament this summer, having debuted as a fresh-faced youngster in 2004. Now 39 years of age, he’s still at the top of his game having scored 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for Al-Nassr in 2023-24.
