Royal Ascot, one of the spectacles of this year’s and every year’s sporting calendar, gets underway tomorrow. As well as five days of some of the most thrilling horse racing anywhere on the planet, the event famously embodies fashion and celebrity, making it one of the jewels in the crown of British and Irish racing.
Some competitors from across the pond will also feature as they aim to get their hands (or should we say hooves?) on a share of an enormous prize pot worth over £10 million.
While there is plenty of pomp and style to enjoy at Ascot, our focus is firmly on the racing and if you want to know who we are backing, read below and enjoy our handy guide to the 2024 meeting.

What Are the Royal Ascot 2024 Dates?
The 35 races that make up the meeting will take place between Tuesday, June 18 and Saturday, June 22.
Seven races are scheduled for each day, with the first running at 2:30pm BST and the last at 6:15pm.
Races to Watch Out For
Of the 35 races that will be run this week, eight of them are Group 1 stakes. Group 1 is the highest rating worldwide and all of these are worth keeping an eye on. Three of them (Queen Anne Stakes for horses four years and older, the King Charles III Stakes for horses three years and older and the St. James’ Palace Stakes for three-year-old colts) will take place on the opening day.
Wednesday and Thursday will host one more each (Prince of Wales’ Stakes and Gold Cup at 2 ½ miles), with two more coming on Friday (Commonwealth Cup for three-year-old colts and fillies and the Coronation Stakes for three-year-old fillies). And finally on Saturday the final Group 1 race will be run in the form of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
