Netherlands go into the match on the back of a demoralising 3-2 defeat to Austria in their final group fixture.
That loss saw Ronald Koeman’s side finish third in their group and set up a date with Romania, who have impressed at Euro 2024.
The Romanians beat Ukraine 3-0 in their opener and then put in a spirited performance against Belgium, albeit in a 2-0 loss.
But a 1-1 draw with Slovakia in their final match was enough to secure progression as group winners – and they will know an upset is on the cards here.
Despite possessing world-class centre-backs in the form of Virgil van Dijk, Micky van de Ven and Stefan de Vrij, Netherlands have looked a bit shaky at the back.
Romania have looked dynamic going forward and with Radu Dragusin marshalling the defence, they are arguably the more complete package heading into the game.
But the big Dutch names, particularly those in forward areas like Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay and Xavi Simons, will know that if they turn up, victory is well within their grasp.
The two sides last met in a 2017 friendly, with Netherlands winning by a 3-0 scoreline.
