Preview

Argentina have been far from their dazzling best in this Copa America but another final awaits Lionel Scaloni’s men.

However, the manager will be buoyed by the team’s display in their 2-0 semi-final victory over Canada, a match in which captain Messi crucially rediscovered some form.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner scored his first goal of the tournament and was able to influence play much more than in previous matches.

But Colombia represents the toughest of challenges following their 1-0 semi-final victory over Uruguay thanks to a winner from impressive Crystal Palace midfielder Jefferson Lerma.

James Rodriguez and Luis Diaz have optimised this exciting side with thrilling and effective forward play – and the onus will be on Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez to limit their influence.

Argentina have been handed a welcome boost ahead of the fixture, though. Palace right-back Daniel Munoz, one of the best defenders at the tournament, will miss the final after picking up two yellow cards in the win over Uruguay.

The likes of Messi, Julian Alvarez, Lautaro Martinez and Angel Di Maria will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a weakened Colombia defence.

Betting Tips

Perfect Farewell

The 2024 Copa America final will be Di Maria’s last match for Argentina and we can envision the winger bowing out in style. Di Maria scored the winner in the 2021 final and he is 6.90 to score anytime in Miami.

Messi Magic?

When it comes to big games, it is hard to look past the possibility of Messi effecting the outcome, especially with him being Argentina’s penalty taker. The little magician is 5.10 to score first.

BetBuilder

And if you fancy Messi to leave his mark on the final, we have a BetBuilder that may pique your interest. Messi to score anytime, Argentina to win, over 2.5 goals in the match and both teams to score is 7.50.
