Lionel Messi’s Record-Breaking Trophy Collection

Argentina emerged victorious in the 2024 Copa America final, beating South American rivals Colombia 1-0 in Miami after successes over Canada and Ecuador earlier in the knockout stage.

An extra-time goal from Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez secured victory in a cagey affair, which is often the case with major finals.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi did not enjoy the best of matches and actually had to leave the field of play in the second half with serious swelling on his ankle.

Messi was seen in tears on the bench but those tears of sadness have now turned into ones of joy as the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner celebrates another trophy.

In fact, the Inter Miami forward has now won 45 pieces of silverware during the course of his incredible career.

No player in history has won more than the great man and to celebrate Messi’s latest achievement, NetBet takes a look at his trophy collection.

Wow, what an honours list that is! Enough pieces of silverware to keep four or five footballers very, very happy – and they all belong to one man.

Unsurprisingly, the bulk of Messi’s trophies came during his long and record-breaking stint at boyhood club Barcelona.

Messi scored 672 goals in 778 appearances for the Catalan outfit across all competitions, the most by a player for a single club in football history.

But while the trophies he lifted with Barcelona will still feel special, none of them – even the four Champions League triumphs – compare to his maiden World Cup win in the winter of 2022.

Messi also won the coveted Golden Ball individual accolade as Argentina secured the biggest piece of silverware football has to offer out in Qatar.

The little magician has scored 109 goals in 187 appearances for his country, a record bettered by only Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo with 130 in 212 games.
