The Open Championship Preview & Odds

The final golf major of the year is nearly upon us and excitement around the world is building.

This year, the historic Open Championship returns to the Old Course at Royal Troon in Ayrshire. The course was first used way back in 1923 and was last used in 2016.

The 152nd edition of the Open takes place from July 18 to July 21 and it promises to be yet another sensational event in an already marvellous year of golfing action.

Last year at Hoylake, outsider Brian Harman unexpectedly strolled to victory in the pouring rain and his heroics were yet more proof of how unpredictable the Open can be.

NetBet really is the place to be for betting on golf and you can take advantage of our brilliant offer on the Open.

The Open Preview

After turning victory into defeat at the recent US Open, Rory McIlroy will be more desperate than ever to end his long wait for another major.

The Northern Irishman has failed to win one of golf’s biggest events for a decade now and regaining the winning touch is only going to get harder as time passes by.

McIlroy will be part of a very strong field including World No1 Scottie Scheffler, the winning machine who is the favourite for every event he plays.

Scheffler won his second major at this year’s Masters and will fancy his chances of scooping a third in Ayrshire.

Elsewhere, US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau – one of the most improved players on the circuit – will be brimming with deserved confidence, although he has only finished in the top 10 at the Open on one occasion.

And then there is Xander Schauffele, the reigning PGA champ and a player with a bit of pedigree at the Open, having finished as runner-up back in 2018.

If Schauffele, Scheffler or DeChambeau were to win this event, they would become just the 16th golfer to win the Open and a second major title in the calendar year.

Let’s take a look at their odds and the rest of the top 20…
