The Favourites For the 2026 World Cup

As the 2024 editions of the European Championship and Copa America have now concluded, with Spain and Argentina crowned champions, it feels only right to start looking towards the next World Cup.

The 2026 edition will be hosted in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, with footballing drama of the highest order almost guaranteed.

Of course, teams still have to qualify for the 48-team tournament but it is interesting to see how the odds are shaping up following the conclusion of the two biggest international competitions prior to the showpiece.

Reaction to 2026 World Cup Odds

Despite their failure at the 2024 Copa America, exiting in the quarter-finals against Uruguay, Brazil are the favourites to win a sixth World Cup, somehow ahead of France, Spain and England.

Of course, they are the most successful nation in the competition’s history, although the Selecao have not reached the semi-final stage since 2014 – when they were infamously hammered 7-1 by Germany on home soil.

Uruguay and Argentina are the only other non-European nations among the 10 favourites. Lest we forget, Argentina will arrive in two years time as the holders having lifted the trophy in Qatar.

The majority of Europe’s heavyweights feature in the top 10, although you may notice the absence of Belgium, who are currently priced at 34.00 following their disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.

So, what about the hosts of the 2026 World Cup?

Well, the United States of America are at 41.00 and Mexico sit behind their arch rivals at 61.00, while Canada are real outsiders with a price of 81.00.

Elsewhere, Morocco are the African nation with the best odds of victory at 67.00, followed by Algeria and Senegal (both 126.00). Those odds could change quite dramatically after next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, though.

An African team has never won the World Cup, with Morocco becoming the first team from the continent to reach the semi-finals in their historic 2022 run.
