Preview

France are well on course for a gold medal after beating Argentina in their quarter-final tie.

Thierry Henry’s side won the grudge match 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

France are the big favourites to win the whole tournament at odds of 2.00, which is understandable given the strength of their squad.

Mateta is supported by Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, while the team is skippered by former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

France should have way too much firepower for Egypt, who beat Paraguay on penalties in the quarter-finals.

The other match is incredibly hard to call, though.

Morocco have been mighty impressive at this Olympics, beating the United States of America 4-0 in the quarter-finals.

With Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi a key figure in the side, the African nation will fancy their chances of beating Spain.

However, La Roja – who are second favourites for the gold medal at 3.25 – will go into the match full of confidence having beat Japan 3-0 in their quarter-final tie.

Expect it to be a match full of free-flowing football, goals and drama!

Odds

*Odds are subject to change

France are huge favourites to win their semi-final at 1.34, with Egypt priced at 7.70.

Spain have the slight upper hand in the odds market with a price of 2.24, while Morocco are at an eye-catching 2.99.

Betting Tips

France to win and over 2.5 goals in the match @ 2.15

If France’s forward line clicks into gear, it could be a long night for the Egyptians. We fancy the host nation to get the job done in style and if you are feeling braver, France to score over 3.5 goals in the match is priced at 5.10

Anytime goalscorer: Jean Philippe-Mateta (France) @ 2.05

After his winner against Argentina, Mateta will enter the semi-finals brimming with confidence. The Palace forward is at 4.10 to grab the opening goal of the game.

Spain to beat Morocco and both teams to score @ 4.80

We are expecting goals in this one, given the performances of the two sides in the quarters. Spain should have the quality to see themselves over the line, although it will be anything but easy. If you are interested, Morocco to win and both teams to score is at 6.00

Anytime goalscorer: Fermin Lopez (Spain) @ 3.75

Barcelona star Lopez has been at the peak of his powers in this tournament, with three goals to his name. He bagged a brace in the quarter-final win over Japan and we fancy the attacking midfielder to add to his tally against Morocco.

Top Scorer Odds

Morocco star Soufiane Rahimi is the leading scorer at this Olympics with five goals in four games.

Here are how the odds are shaping up…

Soufiane Rahimi (Morocco) – 1.36

Fermin Lopez (Spain) – 5.00

Jean-Philippe Mateta (France) – 15.00

Abel Ruiz (Spain) – 26.00

Alexandre Lacazette (34.00)

Michael Olise (41.00)
