Tomorrow in the UEFA Super Cup final, football fans may get their first glimpse of Kylian Mbappe in a Real Madrid shirt as Carlo Ancelotti’s side lock horns with Europa League holders Atalanta.
The France captain recently completed his free transfer to the La Liga champions after a goal-filled stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
More goals will be expected of Mbappe at the Santiago Bernabeu and by the end of his Los Blancos tenure, the 25-year-old will hope to be among the club’s record scorers.
With that in mind, NetBet runs through the current top five in the Real Madrid scoring charts across all competitions, with legendary names everywhere you look.
NetBet is your home for La Liga betting throughout the 2024-25 season and new customers can make use of our exciting welcome offer, with a £30 Free Bet up for grabs!
5 – Santillana (290 goals)
From 1971 right up until 1988, Spanish striker Santillana was a goal-scoring machine for Real Madrid.
Winner of nine La Liga titles, Santillana scored 186 times from 461 appearances in Spain’s top flight.
However, his goals were unable to guide Los Blancos to a European Cup triumph during his time as a player.
But the same cannot be said about the remaining four players on this list…
4 – Alfredo Di Stefano (308 goals)
Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, Di Stefano’s stint at Real Madrid is the stuff of footballing legend.
The Argentine-born forward scored 308 goals in just 396 games, a phenomenal record in any era of the game.
Di Stefano won the Ballon d’Or in both 1957 and 1959, but he is perhaps most fondly remembered for his European Cup contributions.
His goals and sheer brilliance helped Real Madrid win five European Cups on the spin from 1955-56 to 1959-60 – a feat that will probably never be repeated.
3 – Raul Gonzalez (323 goals)
Now we focus on the more modern greats, starting with Raul.
The current manager of Real Madrid Castilla, Raul was a force to be reckoned with across the entirety of his 16-year playing career with Los Blancos.
He scored 228 La Liga goals and 66 in European competition while wearing the famous white jersey, cementing his legacy as one of the best strikers the sport has seen.
Raul won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid, scoring in the 2000 and 2002 final victories over Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen.
2 – Karim Benzema (354 goals)
The third-oldest recipient of the Ballon d’Or award in history after his 2022 triumph, Benzema is the definition of a Real Madrid legend.
Benzema played more of a supportive role in the early stages of his career at the Bernabeu but became a magnificent focal point towards the end.
The 2021-22 campaign was his most prolific in a Los Blancos shirt as he netted 44 goals across all competitions, including 15 in 12 Champions League matches as Real Madrid lifted the trophy once again.
In total, Benzema won Europe’s biggest club prize on five occasions and is the tournament’s fourth-highest scorer with 90 goals.
1 – Cristiano Ronaldo (450 goals)
It is not even close at the top, though.
Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s greatest ever player by a considerable distance, hitting numbers that mere mortals can only dream of.
His 450 goals came from just 438 appearances. If he had played the same number of games as Raul (741) and maintained that strike rate, he would have ended up with 763 goals. Scary, right?
Like Benzema, Ronaldo finished with five Champions League titles to his name and his tally of 311 La Liga goals is bettered only by eternal rival Lionel Messi (474) during his famous Barcelona stint.
Ronaldo scored 44 hat-tricks for Real Madrid, as well as 33 free-kicks and 70 headed goals. The stats really do boggle the mind.
