The 2024-25 Premier League season is now tantalisingly close and excitement levels across the UK are understandably increasing by the hour.
There are so many questions that will be answered over the course of the next nine months or so.
And one of them is a very big one; will Erling Haaland win his third consecutive Golden Boot?
Ahead of the first round of fixtures, NetBet has taken a look at how the odds are shaping up in the Golden Boot market.
NetBet is your destination for Premier League betting and customers can play our Correct Score Predictor this weekend, with a prize of up to £5,000 up for grabs!
Premier League Golden Boot Odds
Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – 1.65
Unsurprisingly, Haaland is the overwhelming favourite to claim the individual accolade again in 2024-25.
The Norwegian colossus scored 36 goals in his debut Premier League season – which is a record – and followed that up with 27 more last term.
In a City side which creates so many chances, an elite finisher like Haaland is almost impossible to stop in the Golden Boot race, unless injury plays a significant role.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 11.00
Liverpool talisman Salah has always been among the top scorers in the Premier League since returning to the division in the summer of 2017.
The Egyptian scored 32 goals in his first full season with the Reds on his way to winning the Golden Boot and he has shared the award on two other occasions.
If new Liverpool boss Arne Slot can build a team to suit Salah’s game, he could very well challenge Haaland for the gong.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle) – 15.00
Swedish star Isak finished last season like Thierry Henry in his prime and that is why he is the third favourite to win the Golden Boot.
He scored 11 goals in Newcastle’s final 12 Premier League games of 2023-24, which saw him tally 21 overall.
Because the Magpies have no European football this season, Isak may very well maintain full fitness throughout the term and if he does, it would be a shock to see him not reach the 20-goal mark again.
Darwin Nunez (Liverpool) – 17.00
It is perhaps a surprise to see Nunez on this list, given Salah is Liverpool’s main goal threat and the Uruguayan is famed for missing big chances.
Nunez also scored only 11 goals in 36 Premier League matches last season and it remains to be seen what kind of role he will play under Slot.
But if the new Liverpool boss can finally unlock the South American striker, there is potential for goals aplenty. Prove us all wrong, Darwin.
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) – 17.00
Villa’s main man is now deservedly recognised as one of the best strikers in the world.
Watkins was sensational in 2023-24, scoring 19 goals in 37 league matches as the Villans qualified for the Champions League.
If Unai Emery’s side play with the same swagger as last term, Watkins should rack up the goals once again and compete with the likes of Haaland.
Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 21.00
The breakthrough star of 2023-24, Palmer is the only player among the favourites who is not an out-and-out striker.
But the scorer of England’s goal in the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain just finds a way of putting the ball in the back of the net and is perhaps the best penalty taker in the Premier League – which further strengthens his Golden Boot claim.
And with Chelsea bolstering their already enormous squad over the summer, Palmer could benefit from the additional quality coming in and better last season’s tally of 22 goals as a result.
Ivan Toney (Brentford) – 21.00
Toney looks set to remain at Brentford beyond this summer and see out the final year of his contract, although a late move cannot be ruled out.
He has reportedly attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, so it would probably be wise to steer clear of Toney if you are looking to place a bet on the 2024-25 Premier League Golden Boot race.
The England international was not exactly lethal in front of goal last term either, scoring only four times in 17 top-flight appearances after returning from an FA suspension.
Dominic Solanke (Tottenham) – 21.00
Spurs have finally got their Harry Kane replacement in Solanke and he really could thrive under Ange Postecoglou.
Solanke scored 19 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth in 2023-24 and he looks a great outside bet for this season’s Golden Boot.
With the likes of James Maddison, Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson feeding him, you have to fancy the Englishman to rack up another significant goal tally.
Other Golden Boot Favourites
Kai Havertz (Arsenal) – 34.00
Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) – 34.00
Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) – 34.00
Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea) – 34.00
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) – 34.00
Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) – 41.00
Rasmus Hojlund (Manchester United) – 41.00
Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) – 41.00
