Major League Soccer fixtures are making a return this week after a mid-season break.
The break in domestic fixtures has been enforced to accommodate the exciting Leagues Cup tournament, which includes all MLS and Liga MX teams and is played in a World Cup-style format.
Los Angeles FC, Columbus Crew, Colorado Rapids and Philadelphia Union have all reached the semi-finals of this year’s Leagues Cup, with the penultimate round of matches getting underway early on Thursday morning UK time.

When is the 2024 MLS Cup?
The MLS Cup final is currently scheduled to take place on December 7, with the intriguing – and slightly complex – play-off rounds to be contested after the conclusion of the regular season on October 19.
Columbus Crew are the defending champions, while LA Galaxy are the record MLS Cup winners with five wins, although their last triumph was way back in 2014.
New England Revolution have appeared in five MLS Cup matches, the joint-second most in history, but have failed to get their hands on the trophy.
And given they are currently rock bottom of the Eastern Conference, that unwanted streak is not being broken in 2024…

Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami are the current leaders of the Eastern Conference with 53 points from their opening 25 matches.
They also lead the way for goals scored among all MLS teams in 2024 with 56, so it is no surprise that the Florida-based side are huge favourites to finish top of the pile.

While Messi is the division’s main attraction, he is unlikely to be crowned top scorer – and he is also currently injured after picking up an ankle knock in Argentina’s recent 2024 Copa America final win, which further harms his chances.
Real Salt Lake’s Cristian Arango currently leads the scoring charts with 17 goals, while Los Angeles FC’s Denis Bouanga and DC United’s Christian Benteke both have 16.
Columbus Crew’s Cucho Hernandez is one of four players on 13 strikes for the campaign, while Messi and Suarez are tied on 12 goals apiece for Inter Miami ahead of the regular season’s resumption.
