The Arne Slot era at Liverpool began with a 2-0 win at Ipswich and the Dutch boss will be aiming to make it two wins from two in 2024-25.
Awaiting the new Reds manager at Anfield this weekend is a Brentford side who beat Crystal Palace 2-1 last time out.
The onus will be on Liverpool to deliver a convincing performance and remind the rest of the country about their Premier League title credentials.

Liverpool vs Brentford Preview
After impressing in pre-season, Liverpool made sure Slot’s debut in the Premier League was one to remember thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
However, the manager will be slightly concerned about the first half performance from his side, with Ipswich’s press causing them real problems.
But things changed once Ibrahima Konate replaced Jarrel Quansah for the second half, the Frenchman’s pace allowing the Reds to push higher up the pitch and then put the tired hosts to the sword.
Konate will surely start on Sunday afternoon as a result, particularly with the pace Brentford possess up front in Bryan Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa.
And if Ivan Toney does feature at all in the match, Konate’s size and aerial power will be key to nullifying the England international’s potential impact.
However, this game should be all about Liverpool’s forward-thinking players, given they will almost certainly dominate possession.
Midfielders Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai need to be at the top of their game to break through what will surely be a Brentford deep block.
But the fixture looks tailor-made for Salah – on paper at least. Brentford are short in the left-back position due to the absences of Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry through injury.
Kristoffer Ajer is set for another tough outing as a makeshift left-back and his duel with Salah could prove to be the most decisive of the match.
If Salah, Jota and Luis Diaz click into gear – with Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez to come off the bench – Slot should really enjoy his first home Premier League encounter.
Although when it comes to Thomas Frank and his streetwise Brentford side, an upset can never be ruled out…
Liverpool vs Brentford Odds
*Odds are subject to change
Unsurprisingly, hosts Liverpool are the big favourites to achieve victory here at odds of 1.22. Brentford are huge underdogs here, priced at 11.00.
Salah (4.30), Nunez (4.70) and Jota (4.75) are the frontrunners in the first goalscorer market. Brentford pair Mbeumo and Wissa sit at 14.00 and 17.00 to open the scoring on Merseyside.
Liverpool vs Brentford Betting Tips
Player to score in both halves: Mohamed Salah @ 7.50
Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know just how much Salah loves playing at Anfield. He is a goal machine at Liverpool’s home, so we fancy him to add to his already enormous Premier League tally in each half.
Liverpool to score over 1.5 goals in the first half @ 2.44
Liverpool tend to come flying out the traps at Anfield and this will surely be the case for Slot’s first top-flight home match. Brentford’s defence is far from at its strongest, so they could wilt under the early pressure imposed by the Reds.
