UEFA Nations League 2024-25: All You Need to Know

Nations League 2024-25 Preview

The UEFA Nations League is returning this week for its fourth season and there are some fantastic fixtures on offer throughout the campaign.

France, Italy and Belgium will all lock horns with one another in Group 2 of League A, while rivals Germany and the Netherlands are set to face off in Group 3 of that 16-team section.

Unfortunately, England are not part of League A and are instead in Group 2 of League B. As such, they cannot win the tournament, only those in League A have a chance of lifting the trophy next year.

Now, the way the Nations League works over the course of nearly two years means there is quite a bit to take in. So, NetBet has decided to help out by providing all the key information ahead of the first round of fixtures.

And remember, if you love great football odds and sports betting – and want to place an Acca on the upcoming games – make use of our handy Acca Boost feature, which can increase your odds!

Do not forget, in every single two-legged tie in the Nations League, the higher ranking team hosts the second leg.

And the Nations League also has a bearing on 2026 World Cup qualification.

The best four 2024-25 Nations League group winners, based on overall ranking, that finish outside the top two of their World Cup qualifying group (the draw for that should take place later this year) will be entered into the World Cup play-off rounds, where 16 countries will battle for the final four European spots at the tournament.

Which Countries Have Won the UEFA Nations League?

European champions Spain are also the Nations League holders after beating Croatia on penalties in the 2022-23 final.

Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portugal team won the inaugural tournament in 2018-19, while France claimed victory in the 2020-21 edition.

England’s highest finish came in 2018-19, when they secured the bronze medal thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Switzerland in the third place play-off.
